This hotel surpassed expectations, the room was modern, clean and super spacious. Complimentary brekkie thrown in as well. Location was great and overnight parking (at cost) was just a few yards away. Staff were all super friendly.

There is no lift so you have to carry your bags upstairs (mine were heavy!)

Surprisingly good given the price. Facilities were clean and modern.

It was a little hot overnight. If only we had turned the radiator off. The room (Rathbone) was also in the small side but still great value

Location is great. It’s exceptional value with a good breakfast included. Comfortable with good facilities

We had a fantastic time at Black Lion and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. The rooms were clean and spacious and the bed was very comfy. It was great to be able to come down straight into a pub, the vibe is really relaxed and prices very reasonable!

During the night there were rattling sounds from the pipes from the ceiling which woke me up a few times during the night..

Fabulous bar, lovely breakfast and friendly staff. Brilliant location in the city, close to the railway station and shops.

The check-out detailed on booking was 11am, but upon arrival was informed it is now 10.30am, which was disappointing. The breakfast is small - 1 of everything wouldn't be filling for an average person. You have to pay an extra £3 if you want another key card so have to share between the two of you and the electricity is tied to the key card. This seems very unreasonable - all parties should be able to gain access to the room they have paid for. It's very dusty under the bed (discovered after dropping a hair bobble) which was a bit off putting. The doors have to be slammed to shut which means you hear most movement of other guests - at whatever time they come back or move around!

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was generally clean, spacious, and comfortable. The food was good and had big portions. There was a fan and air conditioning in the rooms which were much appreciated. Plenty of tea and coffee in the room.

Hairdryer was missing from the room and my it was just my bad luck but I had the Shambles Square room and in the morning the noise coming from the generator was very annoying.

Room was very nice and clean, location was very close tot the city center and easy access to everything. Breakfast was very good.

Check in desk is the bar, it's a functioning pub, luckily I arrived in a bit of a lull so only had to wait for 2 people to be served their drinks before I was checked in, but I imagine when busy this could be a bit of a wait. No parking, which is advertised as no parking in the hotels defence. Is the deansgate parking a 5 minute walk up the road but is quite expensive.

Very clean, well presented, staff were very friendly and informative. Location was just on the outskirts of the centre so only a short walk to get where you need to go to. Proper pub, reasonable prices, beyond the hotel could find yourself in the for drinks. Modern rooms with fully functioning big screen tvs

Because it is located directly above the bar, we could hear music and quizzes. Keep it in mind, if you book this hotel, plan on enjoying the night life. Also, we had to turn off the noisy bathroom ventilator.

Great price, breakfast was included and very good, bed was extremely comfy and staff was lovely.
