One bizarre occurrence is that our room was blazing the heater at 30 degrees when we arrived and it took a few asks to get it turned off! It was a crazy waste of energy and I think they were a little short staffed to fix, but all good in the end. Would recommend, nothing fancy but decent value for a beautiful location.

We booked a quadruple room which was a double for us and bunks for the kids (9&11). Not spacious but 2 x windows onto both an alley and an internal yard, which is good for a bit of breeze. Bathroom was tiny but serviceable. Beds could be comfier but ok. The location is awesome, it fronts a beautiful canal and a short walk in either direction means you can take the no. 1 vaporetti along the grand canal alighting at Salute (35 mins Piazzale) or take a faster one round the side of the island to Zattere (also good to access the belltower at Maggiore). The Dosouduro neighbourhood is very chilled with some friendly and affordable bars and restaurants, handy for the Peggy Guggenheim too, a lovely gallery. Great breakfast for E9/head. Friendly and helpful service.

The bedroom was with a few apartments far from the reception, where we booked. There is a great smell at the entrance to the residential apartment.

Smelled like mold in the hallway, bed was falling apart and very uncomfortable. It felt like a roadside motel, not a 3 star hotel.

The staff and the location were good. That was it.

Cleanliness ,extremely basic , bed appalling ,very thin pillow , probably better bed and pillows in a prison cell , dark unlit and smelly passage way to room , carpets on stairs loose ,stair rods not attached causing trip hazard, in restaurant had to send lasagne back twice because it was cold both times , would describe as a doss house also didn’t get ground floor room as confirmed by booking .comc

Go there if you want to waste your money. The old man in reception insulted me! I reserved a studio 38 meters with the river view, i even sent them a message to say that it is very important, they gave me a room max 10 meters for two people with an extra mattress not even a bed, dirty, without a view even the window did not have handle so it was closed! When i asked him he insulted me, and told me that is the situation and i have to accept! The room was very dirty, sheets were used, insects everywhere. The hotel was nice but he took me to another dirty building 50 meters distance without any reception, no one! Then i told them it is cold, some one came to the room to turn on the heater i told him give me the remote! If during the night it becomes hot, what should i do? He laughed and told open the window! Seriously do not GO THERE. I THOUGHT THE REVIEWS ARE EXAGGERATING, SO IF YOU ARE LIKE ME LOOKING FOR A REASONABLE HOTEL FORGET ABOUT IT AND DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, money and respect!!! Terrible terrible terrible

Hotel staff tried to compensate with giving discount on food but I was not there for getting discounts, but for comfort I paid for. Even after complaining on day 1 at 1st hour about choked basin, it was not at all attended by hotel. A/C was not working as remote was not provided, but later on day 2 the a/c was switched on and remote taken away so that was also not something we could manage ourself .. Windows as you can see in pictures had no handles to operate and a nail was provided at bottom which was needed to be used for locking windows. Overall very disappointed ☹️

Only the staff at reception was warm and welcoming, facilities were very very bad, stinking room, choked washbasin, bad exterior and interiors, pictures posted on website were just a cheat.

It was great stay

I recently stayed at Hotel Messner and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed by the exceptional service and cleanliness of the rooms. The staff went above and beyond to ensure my comfort, and the rooms were immaculate, making my stay truly enjoyable. The rooms are a little outdated and old, but, for the price, that's okay. It was dog friendly which was our most important thing, location was great too.

Pet friendly, good location, easy transport and friendly staff. Really well trained receptionists, easy to leave luggage after checkout and wonderful with pets. Wifi was working and everything was great! Food at the restaurant was super yummy too!

Hotel overall run down, shower didn't drain, shower full of mildew, public hallway not lit, took 15 minutes to get hot water, and was given directions to building 237, a number which was not marked. If you just care about location, all good, anything else, worst I have been in.

The public spaces near the front desk were great. Hotel looked nice and location was good.

the room was not in the proper hotel but in an adjacent building, which had a moody smell throughout, the beds were metal frame of the sort you would use in for a camp; the shower curtain ended 5 inches above the tray, there was no fridge to keep drinks cold, there was no bottled water, the carpets were old and musty, the doorframe to the bathroom was splintered, and when checking out the the receptionist tried twice to collect the foreigner tax which was mandatory to be paid at the check in.

The room was quite old, ceiling looks quite damaged in that specific room, also opaque curtains were missing the window had normal transparent curtains, a bit of privacy can be improved.

The location is on the main island, around 30 minutes walking from the central station. The personnel was very nice, initially we had a 2 separate beds room, but they offered us a big bed room without extra charges.
