Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NetherlandsThe location is amazing. A more relaxed and cute area, well connected to all of Tokyo by the nearby Nippori station. Great shops and restaurants nearby. The staff is kind and helpful and all amenities are there.

United KingdomGreat location in a quiet area of Tokyo - away from all the noise and bright lights of Shibuya and Shinjuku. Easy access to all the places I wanted to visit. Room has plenty of space compared to typical hotel however, you need to be comfortable with Japanese style sitting on the floor (eg, no chairs or sofa).

BelgiumThat I couldn’t open a window for fresh air, however there was a cooling system.
They let me check-in an hour later than normal because my flight and bagage had a delay. They were very friendly.

AustraliaThe location - Yanaka - is perfect. It’s close to two stations and in a fascinating area with plenty of dining options. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The rooms have comfortable futons and sufficient space for a family of three.

United KingdomI liked everything.
This is my second visit (after 9 years) to this Ryokan and it is still one of my favourite places to stay. Very nice room, in a very nice, quieter area. The people who run the place are just lovely. I will be back if coming to Tokyo again.

United States of AmericaI love everything- wish I could stay longer. Am looking forward to coming back soon!
I love the quiet and calm and charm of this neighborhood! The owners are helpful and hardworking. There are so many wonderful small “mom and pop” shops that allow visitors to get a taste of true Japan. I love taking out home cooked dishes from all the “in walking distances” shops - excellent food !!!

ItalyI loved the room in traditional Japanese style, with the futon, which was very comfortable to sleep with. I also found the neighborhood extremely nice: a convenient position and rich in restaurants and shops.

Hong KongNothing.
This place is fantastic! Only 2 mins walk from Sendagi station ( subway) and 10 mins walk from Nippori ( JR line), there are two supermarkets nearby. The restaurants nearby required booking in advanced, that’s why I got sushi and bento from 7-11 across the ryokan. There’s a great place for breakfast that I go almost daily- coffee chi-zu, you can get a set for 600 Yen in weekday, great deal in the area. Also, the fish restaurant nearby is also worth going. The host is very responsive to my request, since the tatami mat is hard for me, so they gave me extra mat so I can sleep tight at night :) Definitely will come back again! Thank you!

AustraliaExcellent location in a quiter suburban an area that was still close to both JR train station (JR Pass!) and a metro station. Right next to a famous shopping street, shrines and temples, Ueno park and museums and accessible to Tokyo hot spots. Laundry in the hotel was very convenient.

GermanyIt was a bit old and also looked a bit decayed but this is really just very very minor. All in all, nothing to complain about (even as a German).
Absolutely loved it! The staff was extremely friendly and the room was very spacious for the money. Would have stayed a lot longer if another room would've been free. Nippori station is very close and Yanaka is an absolutely sweet hidden gem that not too many visitors know about.

CanadaThe room was bigger than I expected. For one person it is enough space. It was clean and I was allowed to store my bags before I checked in. After staying in a hostel in a busy area, this was a refreshing stay in comparison. The location was great, the ryokan is in between 2 train stations, a bustling street market area, restaurants, and a convenience store. The couple running the inn are very nice and speak English!

United States of AmericaTraditional shopping streets just outside the ryokan. Cheap and traditional eats, local goods, bakeries, grocery stores only a few steps away. A few minutes walk from Nippori station. Nice stroll to Ueno Park.

United States of AmericaAs is typical in a Japanese ryokan, there is no chair in the room (the Japanese kneel at a low table). When I got tired of sitting on the floor, I sat on the very sturdy shelves near the window.

BelgiumNothing really. This is a great hotel if you're mostly wandering around in the city and need a decent place to sleep. It's a traditional ryokan so you'll be sleeping on a Japanese futon on a tatami floor, which is an experience itself.
Stayed here for 5 nights at the end of February for some Tokyo sightseeing. The location itself is already a gem: one of the lesser known but not necessarily less interesting districts you get to discover. It's only a 10 minute walk from Nippori train station and Sendagi metro will get you anywhere in a minute. Hosts are very helpful and welcoming!

SwitzerlandThe futons are futons - if you're not used to sleeping on the floor that could be a problem but we did fine.
The hotel is fantastically well located in the Tanaka district, with easy access to train, subway, and bus lines and within walking distance of Ueno Park. The rooms are basic but have everything you need, the owners are friendly and helpful. There are washing machines available for guest use. Excellent value for money.
