Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThe place is a bit tiered. It's a little sad as the place has unbelievable potential but more effort needs to be put towards up keep repairs and general cleaning. For example the onsen in our room leaked and put more water on the floor then it did in the tub. There was also obvious mold, dust and dirt that would be so easy to clean that I almost did it myself. Simple things that just needs more attention.
Fantastic location on a quiet street right next to an excellent breakfast place and a view that is priceless. Loads of character And a proper Japanese experience.

MalaysiaSadly on our last day we encountered a very rude staff member. So unhelpful, wouldn't even make eye contact. We were unable to leave our luggage there so had to change our plans for the day.

JapanThe futons on the floor were a bit thin, so that after two nights we were both a bit sore.
The in-room rotenburo was very spacious, with plenty of room for two. It felt wonderful, and provided a perfect view of Mt Fuji. The hotel, and the surrounding neighborhood, were very quiet and peaceful. Nearby izakaya was very friendly for foreign visitors.

AustraliaAs other reviews mentioned, there was mould in the toilet room and bathroom. So as I had read those reviews, I wasn't totally surprised but still disappointed. It seems like they could just use some mould remover spray? But maybe it's not removable. As such, there's a mouldy unpleasant smell in the bathroom and toilet rooms. I always kept the doors shut to avoid it spreading to other areas. It was pretty unpleasant but I was sort of prepared for it, having read the other reviews beforehand. There wasn't any mould in other areas I could see, so in the end I was pretty okay with my choice to book, because the mould + pretty basic facilities + outdated sort of building means ultimately that the price is cheaper for what you're getting (a private outdoor bath with a view of Mt. Fuji!)... Obviously it would be nicer if the place was cleaner though! That being said the cleaning staff came by every morning to clean / offer new bed sheets / bath towels, etc. The only issue really was the mould that must be set into the walls/floor somehow in the (clearly unventilated) bathroom areas. Only other things to note is that the staff don't seem to speak any English (at least none of the reception staff did when I was there), which is okay if you can speak Japanese like me, but otherwise might be a little tricky for people with little/no Japanese. I also wished the free shuttle service from the train station ran until later at night (it only runs until 6pm). You can walk to/from the station, it takes around 20-25 minutes, but it's a little tricky with luggage. One of the blinds was broken. A little dusty / not a sense of a 'fresh' room.
Amazing view of Mt. Fuji from the room and outdoor area with private bath!! I had a bath once or twice every day, and sat there admiring Fuji-san; it was really lovely and relaxing. There's a bus stop right near the hotel where you can catch one of the tourist route buses around the Kawaguchiko and Fuji Five Lakes area. You can also walk to the lakeside and a lovely park nearby in about 10 minutes. The area is lovely and quiet, so I got some good rest. The futon in the Japanese-style room was comfortable. The staff came to clean the room every day and offered new sheets / bath towels etc (although do note the issue with the bathroom below..). The room was quite spacious for one person (and would still be for two people as well). Overall, despite the issue described below, I would stay here again for the view, the quiet, and the private bath.

United States of AmericaThe hotel itself looks a bit outdated. There was also a booklet in our room stating that transportation was available back to the bus station and when we inquired, they told us they don't offer that. So some info was a bit confusing and we had to walk 20 mins in the rain with all our luggage which isn't ideal, nor is this totally their fault.
The view from our room was a straight shot of Mt. Fuji. While I did pay to have that view, that mountain/volcano sure is a sight. The room also had its own onsen which was amazing after walking around Japan for the past 10 days. The beer vending machine is also a plus. :)

AustraliaCommunication with the staff was poor. My booking info said there was a free shuttle if you call on arrival. I emailed ahead three times but got no response. When I rang from the station I was told ‘no English’. When I rang a second time I was told ‘no shuttle’. I had to wait an hr in the freezing cold and dark for a taxi. Traveling alone I wouldn’t stay here again as it’s not easy to get to.
I had the most incredible view of Mt Fuji from my room. I didn’t eat dinner there but I had breakfast it was nice but I think a little over priced.

Czech RepublicIt is very worn out. There are carpets everywhere, including elevator walls and floor. The carpet give a bit unpleasant odour all around. The biggest problem is that the personnel, including receptionist, speak basically no English. Additionally, they tried to charge me twice for the room. The payment was deducted form my account via booking.com. however, the receptionist insisted that I pay on site. After some hassle I refused. At check out everything seemed to be forgotten and I wasn't asked to pay anything. They may receive very few guests via booking.com. Otherwise I doubt that they tried to rob me.qq
The Tabist Fuji Inn Ohashi has definitely seen better days long ago. The location is excellent. My window looked towards Mt Fuji what was an ideal early morning wake up view. The bus stop is about 20 meters away. the hotel room was clean. I appreciated the public thermal spa which was never crowded and the thermal water offered a wonderful relaxation to my tired muscles after the long day of hiking.

United KingdomThe toilet and the sink/shower are in different rooms which is a bit odd. I'm not sure how it rolls there but it felt a bit awkward to have to run across the hall to wash my hands after using the toilet. But the facilities were great otherwise!
We got a room with a view of Fuji and a personal hot tub. It was a beautiful large room and felt very Japanese. The one day where the weather cleared up, we got to see the amazing sight of Mt Fuji from our rooms. It was amazing!

Hong KongI had an absolutely dreadful experience staying at this hotel. The level of disappointment and frustration I encountered was beyond imagination. I feel compelled to share my experience to warn others about the subpar conditions, abysmal service, and lack of staff support provided. Firstly, the hygiene in this hotel was shockingly poor. The entire place felt dirty and neglected. There were visible signs of mold everywhere, which is not only unsightly but also poses serious health concerns. To make matters worse, I even discovered pubic hair in the bath tub, which is utterly appalling and completely unacceptable. To add insult to injury, the hotel's facilities were outdated and in desperate need of renovation. The room I stayed in was old and worn-out, giving a depressing atmosphere. However, the most disappointing aspect was the private hot bath tub, which was the sole reason I chose this hotel. To my dismay, it was not functioning at all. This was a major letdown, as I had been eagerly looking forward to a relaxing and rejuvenating soak, only to be denied this basic amenity. Furthermore, the lack of staff support was a significant issue. The official staff operation hours were until 9:30 PM. However, when I tried to locate a staff member at 9 PM to discuss the hot bath tub malfunction issue, I found no one. The absence of staff at a crucial time when guests need assistance is completely unacceptable and reflects a lack of professionalism and regard for guest satisfaction. Despite booking and paying for a two-night stay, my experience was so horrendous that I could not bear to spend another night in this dreadful place. I promptly checked out after enduring just one night of discomfort, dissatisfaction, and the inability to find any staff for support. It is absolutely unacceptable for a hotel to provide such substandard conditions, fail to fulfill the expectations of its guests, and lack staff assistance when needed.

SpainA tad far from the station, especially if you wanna walk with your luggage. Might be worth taking the bus or a taxi.
I gave this a chance despite some bad reviews and was greatly surprised. I booked a room with a private bath and it was amazing. Big, clean, and the bath was a piece of heaven. They also have an onsen, but didn't use it. They said tattoos were ok though! The staff was helpful and nice. It's not super close to the station, but it's very close to the lake and it's very quiet both day and night. Some reviews said things about the bath. Well, it's wooden and not new. Wood gets dark when in contact with water over time. That does not mean it's dirty. No complaints from me!!
