Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaLoved it. Simple clean and cheap.
Simple and cheap. Great for a one night stay in Kamakura. You will be sleeping on the floor, but we knew that.

ItalyThe typical Japanese style of all the spaces, the garden in front of our room, the smell of wood, the quietness of the place and of the neighborhood, the walking closeness to many interesting places, the landlord suggestions and disposability.

IsraelThe bed was a bit hard but it wasn't that uncomfortable and it might be totaly subjective...
I really appreciate the staff of the guest house❤️ the owner answered each and every one of my questions and recommended places to visit and eat. He also allowed me to leave my luggage there a few more hours after the checkout and was very friendly, approachable and welcoming. It might differ from stay to stay but I stayed with 3 teenagers on their vacation and I really connected with them so it did my stay much more enjoyable:)

TaiwanThe stay was overall very cosy and pleasant, and the following are to be mentioned only if I have to nitpick: the futon mattress was a bit too thin, making the bed a bit too hard; the toilet in the room could be cleaned more thoroughly (where it's invisible); the shared bathroom is located in the other building, which means we had to put on our outdoor shoes to get out of the room in order to shower.
The traditional style and vibe of the place and building was charming. The owner was very kind and helpful. He also recommended some nice Japanese restaurants nearby. After checking out we were allowed to leave our big luggages there to spend the day exporing Kamakura.

United States of AmericaOnly a couple shared bathrooms and toilets, so if it's a full house you might need to wait during peak times.
Great location--only a block or two from the ocean and ocean-front promenade, which you can follow for about 15 minutes for a superb view of Mt. Fuji at Inamuragasaki Park (weather/clouds permitting, of course). 10-minute walk to the Hase station on the Enoden (electric railway)--highly recommend taking the Enoden west for great coastal views and a pleasant ride cutting through residential neighborhoods. 20-minute walk to Daibutsu at Kotoku-in. The bunks in the dorm were a bit tightly packed, but otherwise this was one of the cleanest and most comfortable dorms I've ever stayed in.. Even with a full dorm (4 guests) I had one of the best night's sleep of my trip thanks to the comfortable beds and bed curtains. The owner is extremely friendly and helpful--happy to give you recommendations, which he'll save for you on Google Maps if you want. Nice little common area with a beautiful collection of teaware, prints, etc.

United KingdomThe location is nice and quiet but there is a busy road along the beach. We found a way to avoid the busy road when walking to Hase, which was better.

United States of AmericaSuper friendly staff -- Hide will happily recommend activities in the area. He came prepared to answer questions I had about train station luggage storage and local bike rental. Clean, well maintained property, and fantastic location. Quiet neighborhood in short walking distance to a convenience store and the ocean. Perfect for a solo traveler spending a few nights in Kamakura and the surrounding area.

The owner was extremely king, patient and open to help and questions. He gave me a lot of advices, took time to discuss with me and was always available if needed. Really a great owner. Plus, the location is perfect, not in the middle of the city so quite cozy and calm, next to the sea and next to the best spots to see sunrises and sunsets.
