For some reason, they don't like transparent windows in Japan. most likely due to privacy issues. But for simple things, like "what's the weather outside" I had to find a place with a window to look whether it's sunny or raining. This is not good or bad, this just the way Japan is.

Great hotel overall and great location. Right next to the station (means food, transportation and lots of shopping), which made all travel easy (inside Kyoto or outside). You can taxi or subway. Inside the room everything was nice and clean. We did enjoy the stay.

Everything a traveler can ask for. Staff is helpful. Near Kyoto train and bus stations. Plenty restaurants to enjoy excellent Japanese meals. Room was clean, quiet and smell fresh every day.

Needed access to toothpaste/toiletries. They are offered but needed a few more things than those provided. Also no in room option to make tea or coffee. Laundry is available but had no iron in the room or on the floor.

The rooms were quite small with not much space for 2 open suitcases.

Very well located next to the train station. The facilities are clean and it is a more affordable option than most places in Kyoto. The room is very clean although quite small. The bathroom is also small.

The location was amazing. Around the corner from Kyoto station. Rooms were very clean, bed and bedding incredible, delicious breakfast plus the wonderful staff. I plan to stay here again next time I am in Kyoto.

- My room doesn't have a window that I can open, the hotel decorate it like the traditional japanese room which makes up for it to some extent. To me, it's not a big deal as long as I can rest well in the room.

- The location is brilliant, just cross the street you will reach Kyoto Station. - The room is clean and more spacious than most of the tiny hotel rooms in Japan. - Walkable distance to catch buses to major scenery spot.

We stayed at Mitsui Garden Hotel for just one night, and it turned out to be an excellent choice. The front desk staff were incredibly charming and made us feel very welcome. The hotel’s location is unbeatable—it’s literally around the corner from Kyoto Station, and all the malls are within walking distance. Our room was just the right size for the three of us with our overnight bags, although it might be a bit snug for a longer stay if you have three large suitcases. As part of our package, we enjoyed a great breakfast selection. If we are ever back in Kyoto, Mitsui Garden Hotel will be our go to hotel! Thank you to the staff for making us feel welcome.

Beautiful stylish reception and rooms. Just enough space for 2 suitcases ( can’t be said for all Japanese hotels) Location was so convenient next to the station but there was no noise at night as it’s on a side street. Most importantly ,my friend had a fall whilst in Kyoto which meant that we needed help with onward travel, etc, and the staff were all absolutely amazing. Better than 5* service. Can’t speak highly enough of them, and I’ve done a lot of travelling around the world in my life. These people are the best!

The fan in the bathroom didn't work very well sometimes.

The room was very well designed and although we were at a hotel it felt like Japan :) The location was perfect, very close to the Kyoto central station.

2 slow elevators. We didn't get the colorful screen shown in the photo, just a plain one without the cherry blossoms or moonscape.
