Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe showers weren't in the best kept state and it was quite run down- my curtain on my bed was completely broke and everything was just a little shabby. However, if you're looking for a cheap, no thrills stay its a good place to consider.
The location was good, not too far away from the centre and price was good.

GermanyThe shower was not good, it wasnt very clean and the door barley shut. The whole place smelled a bit off and the bed was not very comfortable.also the dorm room did not have any windows.
The hotel staff was very nice. The location was good right between the station and the Temple and only a 1 min walk from the bus stop. It was good value for the price.

United StatesUnfortunately, the AC was out. I'm sure it would've been a much better experience with AC. Even the staff seemed tired, so I'm sure it was just for this time.
The staff were very friendly and helpful overall. Pleasant vibes in the bar area. Cool decor in the main part of the building. They have a sauna, so going during the winter would probably be even better than the summer. They also have Billiards.

IndonesiaI really hate when the staff ask me to watch the video to learn anything needed for stay in this hotel. I think it was forceful and not all people could take it. But as the cheapest hotel, I could tolerate that with compulsion
The bed was very comfortable, overall is okay for me. The cleanliness was okay to. The bathroom was small, but still okay for me. The most important thing that this was the cheapest but really worth hotel near (around 2km) Nagano station.

United KingdomLikely just out of season (Late November), but we hoped there would have been more people staying there at the same time as us, we really like to share in a hostel culture with other people and the site would be extraordinary for hanging out and making new friends in.
Great central location just down the hill from Zenkoji Temple, and there is a great bakery just next door! Very cool decor, and the bar lounge area is really confortable and welcoming.

United StatesA sign outside says 3,000 yen per night but the owner decided seemingly arbitrarily that I should pay 4,000 instead. There’s a sauna but it was closed the entire time I was there so even paying over full price, I couldn’t use the facilities. The rooms are literally just plywood beds and look pretty gross. Mattresses are almost non existent. Rooms are small and cramped. In my opinion, this hostel room should be $10 per night, not $26, but I had no other option for 1 night.
The location is good but the address given on this site is incorrect so don’t follow it. One of the only good things was that I was literally the only person staying there so I could be noisy and take up more space. I moved from here to 1166 Hostel and it was MUCH better for the same price.

IcelandThe communal areas were freezing. The sheets in the room very scratchy, and the window was broken. The shower is very small, but it is hot and works just fine.

JapanAt first sight the facilities looked very basic, but they were all very functional and in good condition. There is also a common kitchen that you can use.
Very friendly owner who gave tips on sightseeing in Nagano. I was here a week before the december holidays, and he also explained how christmas and new year are celebrated in Japan, and gave me pointers where to continue my vacation during the holidays. Also, the beds were very confortable with warm blankets and the heat in the dorms was turned on every night, which was very nice considering the tempuratures in Nagano in december.
