It was a little bit cold in the room and house at the middle of March. Wifi connection was not the best in the room as it is far from the router.

The vacation at Solar do Carvalho was superb. De location is very attractive for hikers and not far from the highway. The breakfast is not at time so you can slip how long you want. You can use the kitchen whenever you want it. Helena is very friendly, kind en flexibel person. I recommend highly to stay there.

Smell of mold in common areas, toilet got blocked, but they solved it. Breakfast was real nice, but you got certain portion of everything, so it is limited and you have to do it yourself. (for example: omlette) Towel was not replaced during our stay. (6 nights).

Real nice location, surrounded by mountains, not crowded. Good feeling to stay in a house, that you feel like home. Clean and tidy.

The most noticeable downside was the room's Wi-Fi connectivity, which was occasionally affected by its distance from the router. Also we lacked phone signal in our downstairs room, but that might have been due to our network providers. On the bright side, this encouraged us to disconnect and wholeheartedly immerse ourselves in our vacation.

Our recent stay at Solar do Carvalho proved to be a tranquil getaway. We selected a ground-floor room with a double bed, providing a snug retreat. The room, generously proportioned and impeccably kept, set a soothing atmosphere. The daily housekeeping ensured a consistently high standard of cleanliness. The central location was a definite asset, affording swift access to every corner of the island within an hour's drive, thereby simplifying our exploration of Madeira's natural marvels. It is worth noting that a car is indispensable for reaching this location. The communal kitchen, while convenient, may necessitate some coordination with fellow guests due to the multiple-room layout. However, this minor inconvenience did not overshadow the overall positive experience. Furthermore, while breakfast offerings were modest, they proved to be ample for our requirements. In summary, our stay in Sao Vicente offered a memorable retreat. The blend of capacious rooms, assiduous housekeeping, and a strategically advantageous location ensured a comfortable and convenient visit. Despite minor considerations, this accommodation comes recommended for a serene stay in Madeira.

Nice spacious house well located for exploring the NW of the island. Big rooms, very well equipped kitchen and tasty breakfast. Moreover, Helena is a very kind and helpful host (I fell ill during the stay in her house, she provided everything I needed.)

Bit difficult to drive up the steep ramp the first time with the car. In the end the pillows were not great for us.

Everything is perfect with Helena, and she's so kind. the quality of this guesthouse is beyond imagination. The fully equipped kitchen and common lounge are wonderful. The room was so spacious with a beautiful view on a field, such a peaceful environment amidst nature. The chambres are always made when you left and when you come at the end ot the day, everything is clean. You can even able to do your laundry. Finally i will not hesitate to comeback here again next time. Thank you again, Helena, for everything, you are one of kind!

Awesome views , very clean , comfortable bed. Really big room! If I will comeback definetelly I will choose one more time Solar Do Carvalho. Very good localisation close to the supermarket and also close to the seaside and to Seixal beach around 10/15 min by car. Kitchen was also big , fully equipped.

Unfortunately it is necessary to have a car because walking to the supermarket, restaurant is not very possible, busy road without pavement....

This is the second time we have stayed in Solar do Carvalho, and we can't complain about anything. Helen is a perfect hostess, she made good breakfast every morninig, she did the laundry, advised on restaurants and trips. It si clean and nice accommodation, adjacent green surroundings, outdoor view, sunbeds, hammock etc.

for some reason the cell service is really not good in this area, but you have wifi in the house so it‘s all right.

Helena was fantastic, super lovely and makes you feel very welcome. The house was clean and comfortable, felt very homey and you have everything you could need in the kitchen. The location is gorgeous, you are surrounded by mountains und Helena even lets you take delicious salad right out of her garden. Would definitely recommend this stay!
