Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

ThailandThe toilet and the stairs.
not stairs but the view from the pool is such a vibe. And also that would be great if we could flush the water in the toilet more than one time.

United States of AmericaThe boat tour we did was really not worth the money and not enjoyable. The gym is not free but 150 baht for entry. I went to the all you can drink night and it was okay.
The location has nice views, but a bit far from the beaches but really not bad. The pool was nice! The staff were friendly, but as expected at a party hosted by they were focused on drinking and partying with each other (but did make an effort to get to know guests)

United KingdomNot the nicest hostel I’ve ever stayed in. The blanco at Koh Lanta is way nicer so I had higher expectations. The bathroom didn’t feel very clean and the shower stunk of urine.
It’s good enough and social. Good location.

DenmarkQuite expensive for a bunk bed in Thailand - but there aren't many options at Railay Beach, so you have to take it or leave it... Pool seemed a bit dirty and the "sunbeds" (pillows) where quite worn down. No privacy curtains on bed. En-suite bathroom had bad drainage and was constantly wet. They keep your passport, which no other place have done.
Seems like a nice place if you want to socialize but also want to be able to sleep, as bar closes at 10pm (you still get a lot of drunk people coming home all morning waking you up, but managable). As the town is so small, it was a fine location - stairs are a bit tough, but not to bad.

AustraliaMost of the staff are terrible. Only the ladies doing check in and out are actually friendly and helpful. You also need to pay for everything in this hostel (including all social events). This is the only place I've stayed in Thailand where a hostel "family dinner" was not free. The events run by the hostel are also poor. The trivia was just terribly run and the staff were just rude. The bathrooms could also be cleaner. Finally, they keep hold of your passport when you check in which should not be allowed. Unfortunately, with no real hostel competition at Railay, if you want to stay in a hostel at Railay you don't really have any other options.
The pool and views of Railay from this hostel are great! The stairs also aren't that bad. It's just like staying on the 3rd floor in a building without a lift.

New ZealandThey take your passport as deposit. My passport actually says that my passport cannot be used as a deposit. The reasoning given for taking it as a deposit was that Railay does not have immigration/ police, so if you do something bad at least you can’t go far. However, there are plenty of other remote places that don’t require your passport, so I really don’t see the justification.
Great location, lovely pool/ outdoor area.

CanadaPay to refill drinking water. This hostel is already very expensive, it's honestly much better to stay in Ao Nang.
6-bed room was in a bungalow above the pool and had windows for natural light (unlike the 10-bed room). Pool and view are nice. Good daily social activities.

We booked a dorm for two nights especially for the pool and hostel events. The location was okay, you do have to climb up and that exhausts you but you can jump straight into the pool if you want to. We loved the outside sitting area and pool. Crowd was pretty young around 18-20 age group so we didn’t mingle much. Dorm was nice.

CanadaNot as social when I was there as I expected having stayed at the other two Blanco hostels, but I guess that does change by the day.
Great location and a decent view from the upper bar/pool area. Stayed in a four person dorm which was clean and fairly comfortable. With limited options for affordable accommodation this was a pretty good stay! 4 island boat tour was fun and a great price!

ChileI personally don’t like places with age restriction, I think is dumb, but there’s not much other hostel alternative at Railay.
Great views from the pool. Room was ok but it would be a good improvement if the beds had a curtain or something to keep private space (and some lockers).

DenmarkRoom has no proper locked storage. The lockers provided under the bed do not work properly - they can be very much accessed even when locked. They also keep the passport as a deposit, I find this practice questionable.
