The room smelled a little musty but I think that’s common in shore units

We were so impressed with the cleanliness of the entire hotel. Everything was spotless. We were told our room didn’t have a view but it actually had a beautiful view of the ocean.

Summer rates are high for the same room. Would like to stay longer at the end of August, however the room rate is double per night.

This hotel was excellent. Extremely clean, spacious, comfortable. Loved the fact that it was all done in very tasteful tile, everything about this room was perfect! Loved the balcony!

Parking was tight, but there was enough for everyone. An EV charger would have been helpful, but we were able to locate one two blocks away.

Avondale by the Sea is perfectly situated across from the ocean and just a few short blocks away from the center of town. It is not "quaint" like many of the B&Bs, and not fancy like some of the fine hotels. It is homey, welcoming, and hospitable. The family-owned and operated hotel has a small, friendly staff and the bathrooms, bedrooms, and breakfast area are all spotless. They offer a continental breakfast and guests can enjoy it in a comfortable nook. If you have leftovers from one of the many nearby restaurants, you can keep them in your room fridge and there is a microwave available to re-heat. Avondale by the Sea has everything you need for a stay in historic Cape May at a fraction of the cost of many pricier places. We heartily recommend it.

The location was just perfect! A walk across the street and you are at the ocean. Across a different street, a cafe had the best coffee I've ever had. It was a two-room suite, spacious and clean. There was a tiny patio with 2 chairs and a table to sit outside. Inside there was a pullout couch, a kitchen table, and a small refrigerator. My king-sized bed was great!

For us, the steps were not an issue, but you do have to use a stairway for the second and third floor.

We came into Cape May while a movie was being filmed and couldn't use our gps.I called the desk at the Avondale, and Alex directed us in . The Avondale has on site parking, the staff were courteous and professional,the room was simple but immaculate .It had a UHD TV with cable as opposed to ROKU which is useless if you don't have an account. It had a small refrigerator and a microwave and ice machine were steps away. There is also coffee and tea available and a continental breakfast in the AM. We were delighted! We can't say enough good things about the staff.Alex suggested dinner and breakfast places, which were very good.

Microwave in room would be nice. An elevator would also be nice but two flights of stairs was manageable.V

There were no elevators, no fitness room, rooms had keys instead of swipe cards which we see everywhere now. I mention these, but not really a big deal.

The staff was very pleasant. It was a bit of a "throw-back" from an earlier era, but Cape May may be just like that. There were no elevators, no fitness room, rooms had keys instead of swipe cards which we see everywhere. We had an end room, so our balcony was private.

Avondale by the Sea’s location to the beach & the Washington shopping mall is within walking distance. There are rocking chairs and a table outside each room. There are locking screen doors so you can open the door for the refreshing ocean breeze.

The strong smell of bleach when we opened the door to our room! Grateful for the ceiling fan, window & door to create a cross breeze.
