How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Our room was too close to a major highway so the all night traffic noise was a bit annoying.

The TV in the room next to us was very loud. But in defense of the man who was in that room, he was likely hard of hearing and had no idea that we could hear it.
Comfortable bed and super clean bathroom! Nice products in the bathroom.

I didn't like the sheets. They stuck to me when I rolled over.

Sites didn’t specify what units came with kitchens so we didn’t know we got one without. Bummed about that. One bedroom didn’t come with a tv, and the other one the tv was in a very strange spot.
Separate bedroom for adults or children to stay in. Pet friendly. Shower had a nice separate heater in it and great water pressure.

There was blood splatter on he wall in the bathroom. I know it’s a dog friendly property so it almost looked like it was from a dog shaking off but it was unsettling. The floors were also pretty bad my daughters socks were black from walking on them.
Great location and fair price. It was fun staying in an older place that has been kept up.

Two night stay maid didn’t make bed or replenish coffee condiments, empty trash or wash coffee pot. Not good patking if you have truck and trailer

Walls seem thin.. you could hear your neighbors. Rooms are a little musty smelling.

Booking .com charges more than if you call directly! There is a lot of road noise which can't be helped due to the location.
The staff and the room were very nice. There was an armchair in the room that could probably be replaced, but it was nice having it in there.

The motel was older and the bathroom floor could use an upgrade but was cleaned and cared for. There was no AC in the unit, so we opened a window and turned the ceiling fan on. There wasn’t a lot to dislike.
The room had a great amount of space, separate bedrooms, clean and comfortable. The manager brought us extra towels for the kids. Check in and check out were smooth and quick. We will definitely consider staying here again!

It was hard to get out of the parking lot due to the busy street and the lower parking area was small. We only had 4 sets of towels (washcloth and large towel) and 2 large towels. We had 6 people in our group, so we needed 6 sets.
The room was great, I was pleasantly surprised. There were board games available for us to play and it was nice to have a kitchen and full size refrigerator.

Parking. When we would come back at night, it was not easy to find a place to park. Also I wasn’t prepared for the room to be so small. Luckily we were visiting family and didn’t have to be in the room except to sleep.
