Most of the advertised social activities didn't actually go ahead as there wasn't transport or enough people interested.

The staff and volunteers were so kind and fun to hang out with! There is a fab garden at the back with hammocks, volleyball, etc. and a couple of really comfortable lounges. The location is a bit out of the way, but is serviced by a couple of bus routes to Downtown. The bathrooms included shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion, as well as towels. The kitchen is really well stocked, and the complimentary breakfast (cereal, toast, pancakes) was lovely.

A bit of a work in progress as it is in an OLD road motel. 1. IMO needs more grounded wall plugs...I'm guessing they might work on that over time? 2. Bunk beds were fairly comfy but the particular double bed we were in was a foam mattress with a wire net under girding ... So we rolled into the middle (or tried to sleep on the outer edge) and spent a very uncomfortable night. Our second night we slept apart on bunk beds and they were fine.

There was an around-the-clock scent of cannabis on the entire property. Whether we opened the window to the parking lot or the rear window in the bathroom, the cannabis smell came in strong. As someone who finds cannabis stink even more disgusting than cigarette smoke, this really limited our options for fresh air during the night.

The bed for two was quite small. The hostel promotes sustainability behaviour (which is great!) but the room door is not well insulated from the outside - this would be a better improvement energy efficiency-wise, especially in winter.

Only downside is that the neighborhood seems a little bit sketchy, but nothing sketchy happened during our stay here.

Rooms are pretty basic, but they're clean! All you need, nothing more, nothing less. Very interesting people staying at the hostel to talk with. The cooking options are great for your own food and the free breakfast in the morning is awesome. Better than what you get at the typical hotel in the USA. Great value for the price you pay.

Well, We stayed in two different rooms: the bigger one that accommodates 4-5 was just right but the second one, the smaller one for two people, was not as nice as the first. Also, the air ventilation in the bathrooms was very loud.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the shared rooms were clean and inviting. There was a positive vibe at the place, the other guests we met there were nice and friendly, too. The staff always maintained good contact with us to ensure we settle in properly…thank you, Eugene and Rob!
