Stately mansion in central Sacramento with a youthful vibe.

That I had to get up at 4:30 am and leave - wish I'd had more time to enjoy the place and surroundings. :)

This is the most beautiful youth hostel I ever stayed in. An old mansion from 1870 in central location. And the furniture and decorations match the period. More than I expected, very comfortable room. I booked a private room, not the dorm.

Limited parking. We did end up on the same day as a field trip of about 20 elementary age children they were running through the house just something to be aware of.

Great location, beautiful house, friendly staff.

I wish the game room was accessible later at night and maybe have a sound proof door, but that's okay. The only thing I would improve is the quality of the pool table! The felt is a bit torn up and loose. Also need chalk for the cue sticks. But place is still a 10/10 for me

The staff were so nice and very understanding. Everything was clean, the place was really nice, all the amenities you need, and nice lights. Place exceeded my expectations and I'll definitely come back if I'm in the area again.

The Victorian style house fitted with all the memorabilia, game room, and decked out reading made it iconic. The opportunity to meet such a great crowd made it even more special

We weren't there long enough to have any real dislikes. So minor in the scheme of things, but I wish there had been a toaster available at breakfast so we could toast our bagels and English muffins.

The hotel is a gorgeous converted Victorian mansion right in the historic area of Sacramento. We booked the private room which was bigger than I expected and surprisingly quiet, a great value for the price. I also appreciated the gated parking lot so we didn't have to worry about our car overnight.

The mattress has a hump in the middle. Breakfast would be better if it had cheese or milk or some sort of protein.

It is a safe hostel because you have to ring on the bell and show your key card in order to let in. The staff are very hospitable helpful and nice. The kitchen is very nice to cook in, and has all the facilities. Bathroom and shower area was a bit cold for me.

    Everything was fine!

Great hostel in a fabulous 19th century mansion. East check in; morning desk staff particularly friendly and upbeat. I had the Frieda Kahlo themed room (#21) which was cozy with vibrant decor. Super clean communal bathroom/shower; quiet and well located not far from train station. For the price, you can't beat the charm and vibe of this property.

I wish we had stayed longer. We didn't have enough time to fully explore the game room and parlor and fully appreciate the grandeur of this 1885 Victorian mansion.

The beautiful photos of HI Sacramento Hostel drew me to book a private room (I traveled with my 12 y.o. daughter), and this historic mansion did not disappoint! It is stunning, and I only wish that we stayed longer than one night. Front desk and housekeeping staff were friendly and helpful. We had a car and appreciated the gated parking lot ($8/night). Our room was cozy, women's restrooms/showers were adjacent to our room, and everything was very clean. With such a grand and historic space, it was lovely to feel we were staying in a part of history. The complimentary continental breakfast (oatmeal, fruit, mini bagels, tea, coffee, etc.) was just right. We would certainly stay here again if in the Sacramento area.

Location, the homeless problem in California is out of control. California has so much to see and do, it's a nice place to visit but I would never life there.

The House was beautiful, and I appreciate the history and the reconstruction of it. The front desk host were the best, they were very helpful to me since this was my first time in Sacramento.
