Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThis isn't the owner's fault. Still, when we first tried to find the home through Google Maps, we were accidentally led into a completely different home where the homeowner, frustratingly came out and explained how to get to our home. She had multiple people come to her property and attempt to drive through it to reach the home, so much so that she immediately knew which home we were trying to go to and how even to go there. So heads up, if the dirt road that you enter doesn't have the home address number at the entrance (62828), then don't go in)
We went to Joshua Tree to find an isolated plot of land to see the night sky without any light pollution from the town, which is exactly what we got. It was also incredibly close to the national park's west entrance so that was convenient, as well as being close to the town. The home didn't seem much at first from the outside but when we stepped in, the living space, bedrooms the bathrooms were all wonderful and clean. The backyard was a nice place to have dinner and barbecue meat; they even had a fire pit to burn some logs in the night.

IndiaThe outdoors needs some maintenance - the brick tile floor is shaky, the outdoor bathtub was muddy as it was not covered, the chair near the outdoor fireplace was torn and not usable, windows need proper locks, the drive way entry needs to be marked with bigger sign - it was difficult in the night to find and get into the driveway.
Cozy 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment. Interiors are well maintained and well thought supplies made available to make the stay comfortable. The property is a few minutes drive away from the highway as well as the entrance to the Park. Host instructions were clear and to the point.

United Statesunfinished appearance of exterior, lack of clear directions to find it (photos of the spot where the dirt track leaves the main road would have been better than the second google pin as that led me on a wild goose chase)
beds were very comfortable, kitchen was modern and had a good range of equipment, nice sitting areas, car port

United StatesGreat location - very close to the park entrance and some popular trails. The house itself was also in a nice location, nestled in the desert. It was also close to Joshua Tree City. The house was clean and comfortable, with all the necessary kitchen items and bathroom toiletries.

United StatesCommunications started with the booking through booking.com. We were a party of three that needed two bedrooms. First confirmation said 2 people, 1 bedroom. Issuue had to filter down several levels of administration to get matters straightened. Turned out house had three bedrooms. Didn't need or use it, but third party in the group incurred $50 extra charge. We never quite sure what would await us, but all was well. Around surrounding the house could standing some tidying yo to make sitting area more inviting.
No breakfast provided. But that was stated up front. So problem there.

GermanyThe location of the house was great, you’re just a few minutes from the park entrance and a few minutes from the town. The night sky was spectacular and the house had everything we needed from kitchen utensils to hair dryers. Also the beds were comfy and the heating worked well! Make sure to follow the exact instructions of how to get there. If you miss your turn, go back and take the correct one instead of thinking “well Google says there’s another road we can take” - don’t! 😁

United StatesWe have nothing to complain about as feel that everything was to the standard. The beds aren't the comfiest and the air conditioning could be more effective, but let's be fair that we are in the middle of the desert. The price for everywhere in Joshua Tree is outrageous, so this comes with the territory. Overall, we were happy with our stay!!
This place is in a great location, extremely close to the entrance of Joshua Tree National Park, but close enough to the town if you need anything. The place is simple, but effective, if you're like us and were planning to spend the majority of the day in the National Park. It was easy to access, had a beautiful backyard, and everything you would need for a comfy stay.

United StatesProperty had trash in a bin outside one of the bedroom windows. The irrigation system was left on so my husband turned it off and contacted the PM. The gas stove exploded with a high burst of flame, we had it turned to low, the flame burnt my eyelashes.

AustraliaSecurity did not meet our expectations
Location is a 10, very quiet and natural. Close to park entrance. Pretty trees and cacti. Cowboy tub is relaxing. Bathrooms and interiors good standard. But we didn’t feel secure as the windows remain open for the swamp cooler to work. There was just a thin mesh which could have been cut if someone wanted to break in at night.
