How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Lack of transparency. The kitchen attracted me, but could nor even prepare my own oatmeal! No utensils!
Very comfortable bed. Quiet. Great check-in. They advertise "breakfast " which is really packaged frozen item with lots of preservatives that one can heat in room microwave. They a little mini kitchen, complete with 2 burner stove, frig, sink and microwave. But, strangely, no utensils, pans or silverware available. So bring your own. I would stay again, just with my own utensils. The hotel should either be transparent about the breakfast it pretends to serve, or provide guests with mini kitchen set for rent upon checkin.

GPS took us down a terrible street to get there. Almost swallowed by potholes.
Really liked the recliner. Great value for a good nights stay. Spacious. Clean and comfortable.

Slow elevator. Felt like it should have been cheaper but that is probably true for most hotels in the area.
Friendly staff. Clean. Good beds. Walking distance to McDonald's.

We were surprised by how well appointed this place is. We were tired and needed a quick place to stay so checked booking.com. It was a little confusing to get to but once we figured it out, was well located for where we needed to go. Rooms were spacious, linens of good quality, great staff. Would definitely stay there again.

Shower water isn’t hot enough. Even fully it it feels luke warm. Also, it didn’t drain properly so I was walking around in a swamp while taking a shower. Also toilet flushing power is weak.
Love My Place Hotel chains. Good size room, cozy, clean and chill.

Honestly I loved the room, just wish it would have been a more comfortable bed and larger bed. Was bummed there was not a king bed option.
Nice design and easy check in, very pretty view and love the full kitchen and large space.

Very close to the highway and constant traffic noise. Homeless people and garbage in the field nearby. I was told twice I could do late checkout but the front desk person CAME TO MY DOOR and asked if I was leaving even after we called the front desk and told them we were doing noon checkout. No breakfast or pool or workout facilities. Staff was in training and couldn't answer some questions and didn't activate my key the first time. No pet area.
Nice, newer and clean room. Comfortable bed. Full kitchen in the room. 9 minutes from Edgefield.

The window shade was half broken in our room. It was hard to open and close. Also found some old soggy cereal in one of the cabinets so cleaning must not have been super thorough before we showed up.
Great value and overall the best for the price. The facilities are well maintained. Between the soundproofing and comfortable beds, we slept really soundly.

Room service is every 3 or 4 days. You have to pay more if you want more room service.
New hotel with clean rooms. The room was spacious and it had a big fridge and a microwave.

There was a strong pet odor when we first entered our room. The rest of the room seemed clean. The bathroom, furniture and decor were updated.
The location is near a high crime area. We were stressed about our vehicle being broken into. We were relieved in the morning when everything was fine.

There seemed to be quite a bit of mix up with payment processing due to training...
I liked my experience overall. The owner was friendly and accommodating...it is quite out of the way from downtown Portland though.

My room key kept getting deactivated or something and wouldn't work so I had to go down and get it fixed frequently which was a huge inconvenience with luggage on you
I like that there was a kitchenette and the beds were comfy.
