How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Sometimes there is no staff in reception.
The location is good. You can walk to Central Park and Time Square for only 10 minutes

Nothing of real importance comes to mind. The storing of the luggage (prior to check in or after check out) may not be super safe, as you basically chain the suitcase in the staircase area. The doors are, however, open and the area is visible from the common areas of every floor.
Everything was made easy: leaving your luggage pre-check in/ after check out, check in and check out, even if staff is not present at the reception (there is a system to organise a virtual call on the spot and the processing is instant). The common places are equipped and clean and the rooms comfortable and big. The lockers have 3 compartments: apart from the middle one where you store your suitcase, there is one above (as a shelf for e.g., leaving your phone or cosmetics) and one below (e.g., for shoes). The location! If members of staff are present at the reception, you are offered/can request a cup of decaf joe on your way in/out =)

I didn't like that there's only the bathroom in the room so you really depend on other people's sense. It happened to me that I had to wait over one hour to use the bathroom in the morning as a girl took that long. I hope that's something that can be improved in the future, perhaps having a second bathroom for everyone on the floor. Another thing is that the stairs to reach the higher bunk bed were very uncomfortable, never seen something like that. Also, the room is not very spacious, so you can't really open your luggage anywhere if not outside the room.
Great capsule hostel, I loved the concept and design, and also the women-only floor. It was all very quiet and kind of relaxing. Location is also great. Free water and free use of the kitchen. Staff was very helpful too.

I left my shower gloves and hairbrush to dry on the window sill and they went missing

Nothing bad, only personal preferences maybe. Bathroom shower could've been a bit nicer - movable shower head, maybe easier to deposit stuff inside the bathroom
Very practical and in a great location, also very practical - next to speciality coffee, bakeries, everything needed, even a tj maxx and stations in easy walking distance

Noise isolation is quite bad.
I liked that the room has its own bathroom. And that there is a small kitchen at the hall and chairs with tables.

The blanket for your pod could be thicker. If they could provide a lock or something for the locker as well, that would be nice.
Location is perfect! And the staff were friendly. :) For my short stay where I just needed a place to sleep for the most part, it was exactly what I needed.

toilets could be cleaned 2x a day considering the high usage.
The place was very quiet and modern and the people were nice. It was clean enough, considering what you can expect from a hostel.

the bunk beds are constructed with steel sheets which looks really cool and modern but get really noisy when you touch it or only even scratch it by accident.
the location was amazing! a lot of trains within 5-7 min walking distance! huge plus is the bathroom inside the room!

All the furniture is black and there is no good lighting, makes you feel like it's nighttime all the time, kind of depressing. The rooms were very cold at times and the blanket that was provided is very thin and short as well. A second blanket was an additional charge, which I find inappropriate. The laundry service costs 10 USD which is a lot compared to other hostels and I didn't even get a dryer sheet because they were out at the moment. The common areas are made such that people are discouraged from interacting or staying there too long.

My main gripe that the light turns on too easily when people enter the room, it is too bright, and that top bunks are not sufficiently sealed to prevent light from coming in. The AC doesn't work that well so summers can be tough, and windows don't really block outside noise.
Amazing location, and the property is very well kept for what it is (a decently old building near central park).

Would normally prefer a hotel but arriving late evening and leaving fairly early didn't justify the expensive prices. But it was ok. Decent setup. Slept well. Wi-Fi worked. Location in the heart of Manhattan

The number of the chains that are for leaving luggage is not sufficient and some of them are really short
Very close to Central Park. Additionally there is a very nice terrace. They provide free sleeping mask which was a nice touch.
