Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaEntrance to the hotel lobby is up a stairs, so it's a challenge for some people with disabilities or lots of luggage. Once in the lobby, there are elevators to the floors. The hotel pool was small, nice looking but we didn't jump in as it was too cool for us. The ocean temp was warmer.
Hotel was a nice, small hotel with staff readily available to assist. The parking lot below the hotel was less than # of rooms but had additional parking (on request) in an adjacent building. Parking did incur a daily fee. Hotel staff were able to hold our bags until we checked in and facilitated an early check-in for us. The hotel was walking distance to beaches, parks, shops and restaurants and the nearby Ala Moana Center mall.

It's a warm atmosphere in a charming boutique hotel run by a local family and I always feel welcome and relaxed staying here. The location is ideally close to all beaches and the Alo Moana shopping center and the Convention center .

United StatesThe bathroom door could not be properly locked. There is no bath tub and no exhaust fan in the bathroom. The steam filled up the bathroom while taking a shower.
The location is excellent. It is close to the shopping mall and the beach. The room is comfortable. The room is quiet when the window is shut. The staff are very friendly. They helped us store our luggage before our check-in time.

United StatesBathroom is very small and the shower is quite limited, but this seems in line for many hotels in Honolulu. I really would like if they provided even a simple breakfast for the costs involved. There are stairs up to the first floor to check-in, which is fine unless you have a lot of heavy baggage. Parking lot is very small and limited.
First of all, the hotel staff is exceptional. They make the stay so very pleasant and are the real reason, along with the location, that I stay here every year for an annual convention. The hotel has been refreshed with the Hawaii style is lovely. The rooms are comfy with great beds. I love the full size Keurig machines in the rooms with plentiful k-cups. About a 6 minute walk to the convention center and 3 minutes to the Ala Moana Shopping Mall. Nearby to food, transport, beach, and post office.

New ZealandI really can't think of anything I didn't like.
Our stay was for 5 nights (mother and daughter). We loved the super friendly and helpful staff - they were like one big happy family. Definitely felt like you were in holiday mode. The room was lovely and very impressed with the comfort of the bed. We enjoyed a couple of lovely breakfasts at the bar and cocktails were amazing by the very experienced staff. We didn't use the pool in the end as we headed out each day but if we were a few more days we would have used it. Great location - handy to shops, beaches and restaurants. Would stay again for sure!

NetherlandsNo decent continental breakfast available - neither in the hotel nor in the vicinity. Ended up buying a loaf of bread, cheese, tea and milk to make a.halfway healthy breakfast in-room. Noisy traffic in the main street in front of the hotel, windows provide no soundproofing whatsoever.
Location was strategically good, close to beaches and conference centre. Clean bathroom. Good beds.

This is a lovely little hotel having a perfect situation in the center of Honolulu. Some traffic noise during the night, of course, but not too bad. The Bamboo room was beautiful. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere! We are horse riders and loved the horsy feeling of this hotel. Old photos on the corridors walls are interesting and touching.

CanadaNot really anything.
First, there is no breakfast. So don't mistake that. The Equus is not/not a 5 star. Nor does it pretend to be. It is a comfortable oasis amidst a number of 50+ five star candidates. Diminutive in size, only 10 stories...it has carved a special niche for itself. Location is excellent...all you could want. Places to eat, shop, beach, all within steps. You can pay more by going to the five star. So you would have a glasses in shower, or be on beach side. But it's Hawaii and beaches are public domain. In both cases you still have to walk and take your towels etc.. Anyway, I would do it again.
