Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The walls are thin, you could hear the people next door talking, what their watching and them snoring.

It needs an artistic touch everything‘s painted white and very bland traffic‘s a bit noisy
The location is outstanding. If you have business in Carlsbad it’s right off the highway and there’s a great restaurant on the corner.

The rooms don’t have many towels and I had to keep asking for more. I had some very noisy neighbours and I’m not sure staff handled it as proactively as I had hoped.
I have stayed here before and chose to return. This hotel is basic but very clean and comfortable. The room has all advertised amenities and matched exactly the photos on Booking.com. Staff are friendly. I would stay here again in the future.

The TV would freeze continuously. There was plastic on the mattress that made the most obnoxious noise whenever we moved in the bed. The windows are not thick enough to block the noise coming from outside so we were listening to the traffic drive by 24-7. We were charged a cleaning fee each day, even though we didn’t have our room cleaned.
Housekeeping staff was friendly. Water pressure was nice.

We didn’t realize how thin the walls were between the rooms until it was time for bed. That’s when we could hear “our neighbor” snoring through the walls. Unfortunately, I’m a light sleeper. I can tell you that next door had a great night sleep because I listening to it all night.
The housekeeping staff was incredibly friendly.

there was a bowl of food in our microwave - must have been left over from the previous guest; it would take a LONG time to get a clean set of towels after we requested them; the mattress protector is obnoxiously loud - it sounds like we are laying in a pile of crumpled up newspapers

the tv continued to freeze or buffer; it would take an extremely long time to have towels brought to the room after we had requested them; there was a bad stain in the sink; we had no hangers in the room

Noise from freeway. Lack of additional blankets or comforter.
Rooms are a little noisy from close proximity to the freeway. Need at least some additional blankets so you can stay warm without running the AC/Heating unit. For the price, it was within reason

The heater smell burn, and the restroom shower head was leaking water making a puddle of water. And people were smoking outside of their rooms when it said no smoking.
Bed were comfortable. The reception people were nice. Big parking lot.

No secondary lock on the door. Appliances were run down (microwave door was partially melted and there was no turn plate; border of TV had broken piece, but it still worked; Mattress wasn't to my liking: Woke with back ache every morning)

The towels and bed sheets were dirty. They had stains on them. Didn’t really have many towels available for our use. The walls are pretty thin so you can hear what the person in the next room is doing.
The staff was friendly. And the rates were good
