Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesSafety was a concern. The entrance doors were propped open other guests allowed people in and out. Event going on the bottom floor, Not clear why only two floors of the building were designated as Kasa. TV access was confusing. Make it clear if I need to use my own TV subscription or is one provided
Clean comfortable room with good coffee and nice added snacks upon arrival. Parking was confusing yet turned out to be free near the church.

United StatesOur fridge wasn't working, but we were able to keep our leftovers cold with some ice from the ice machine. I wish more water were provided, or a filter somewhere in the lobby to fill water bottles. Pittsburgh tap is no bueno.

United KingdomEven though I knew that there won't be any staff I was expecting to have at least some security personnel on the premises.
Comfortable room and great location. The interior design is great and there was nothing to complain about. However, this is not like a regular hotel in the sense that there are no facilities or any staff on site.

United StatesI found it a little to unnerving to be in a hotel without any staff interacting with the guest. I appreciate the value of the lower lodging cost relative to other options, however it feels nicer (and safer) to be greeted by hotel staff at a hotel lobby.
Very large room during work trip. Was able to host colleagues for work sessions in the family room. Two TVs, sitting room, three beds (queen, two twins), curtain to separate the main bedroom from the living area, however must go through bedroom for anyone to access bathroom.

United StatesI knew that this would be a virtual hotel, so I can't fault them for that. But it does feel strange to be in a hotel where you rarely see another human being, and, if you do, they are other guests, not staff. I think they shouid do something to liven up the place--perhaps having a restaurant next to the lobby. In their defense, the virtual aspect of the hotel is well-thought out. The check in instructions were clear and we got quick answers when we texted questions to the mysterious Kasa employees located in some mysterious place in the world (but just not in the hotel itself). Also in their defense--the hotel was less expensive than equivalent hotels that have full staff, so I can't complain about that either.
The building is a beautifully repurposed YMCA. The room was very well-designed to be both pleasant and functional. We had a view of the church across the street. The location is close to Shadyside, a great neighborhood with lots of restaurants and interesting shops. If you don't need to be in downtown Pittsburgh, this is a very good location to use as a base to explore the city.

United StatesThere was a literal rave in the lobby floor when we arrived, which was unexpected. It was quite crowded and loud, apparently, it's a venue that is often rented out. Not too loud in the rooms (which were on the 5th floor) but you could hear something. The next morning, there was a crew filming a commercial in the room next door. Not a problem, but another unexpected neighbor. There aren't a ton of things to do nearby, but there are several coffee shops and a few places to eat.
There isn't parking in the building, but there is a parking lot around the corner which is free between 8 pm and 8 am. The rooms were nice - great shower pressure and plenty of hot water. Another perk was the two free drink tokens for the lobby bar. There's also a bus line straight downtown that departs from right outside the Kasa door.

GermanySuch a beatiful bar in the lobby area. Would have been so nice to order a coffee there.
We had a family suite to accomodate the parents and two tall teenage boys. The room was large and its architecture beautiful. The entire building has been beatifully renovated. One bathroom was sufficient because there was a 'public' restroom in the basement of the building which was perfectly clean and probably the quitest room (no air condition sound at all) in the entire building. I liked the lobby with lots of opportunities to sit and work with the computer.
