Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaIt was such a wonderful experience, the room is designed to make you feel like you are sleeping in a tropical forest surrounded by nature. Patrick is a great host with plenty of tips on where to go and how to get around. Would definitely go back. As to be expected in that kind of setting, make sure to bring a mosquito repellent and ear plugs

United States of AmericaAfter spending a day exploring, we returned to a tight parking situation, however we made it work.
Staying in The Red Cottage was like stepping back in time to the Hawaii of yesteryear. The record player and albums from multiple decades were such a nice touch, and we played different records during our stay. Even the artwork was reminiscent of days gone by which was so special and made us smile. The host greeted us and left a lovely personalized note and welcome gifts, which were much appreciated. A real treat was the claw-footed bathtub, and the host had all sorts of bath accessories available. It was so relaxing!

United States of AmericaI loved the rural concept of the property. The open shower layout in the bathroom with a great vintage tub. There is also an outdoor shower next to a lily pond if you need to rinse off after a day out and about. This property is rural down a gravel road. If you like adventure, this is the place. I liked it. The host is very friendly and a cool guy.

Canadawhile a little out of the way, the setting was great and you could access site seeing locations with a bit of a drive. The cottage was quaint and beautifully set up. It had an outside kitchen (well sheltered) so took some time to get used to. The host was very friendly and offered lots of great ideas and wealth of information. If we had any questions, or concerns (about how things worked etc) he was quick to respond. I loved the chickens roaming the yard. I would definitely come again.

Spain- The location is a bit isolated, with a good driving distance from any convenience stores or supermarkets - Very challenging to get any good signal either from your network provider or property wifi. If you need a reliable connection during your stay, this is probably not the best place - This is not a farm...but it is a country-side like property. Hence, be prepared to share your space with dogs, cats, crocks or crickets (and their noises)
- The host makes everything in his hand to make your stay comfortable and convenient - The apartment is equipped with anything you may need (kitchen, bathroom, etc...) - Bed was just so comfortable!!!

AustraliaNothing at all. Totally fab! We got lost on the night of our arrival (we came late in the evening) but the owner was very helpful. Use Google Maps instead of Apple Maps, which takes you too far down the road.
There was a record player with old Hawaiian vinyl records that added to the mood, and a gorgeous bathroom that we really appreciated after camping. Even the overhead fan was hand carved to suit the Hawaiian castaway oasis aesthetic. Gilligans Island, eat your heart out. Now you can feel like you have been shipwrecked on a deserted island but with all the luxuries! The open air kitchen was spotlessly clean, with all the amenities and a morning visit by a friendly hen who left us a fresh egg - look under the stove, near the microwave for a breakfast egg delivery!

A home is in paradise and a place can totally relax. Super like the outdoor kitchen and dinette – a peaceful place surrounded by nature sounds that can spend all day, and there always had little visitors came by. Patrick is a very friendly and thoughtful host, he also gave good advice about the local highlights. Everything made my stay so enjoyable.

United States of AmericaBe mindful that there are roosters on the property/in the neighborhood (If you don't like being woken up at dawn every morning). Kitchen facilities are on an outdoor poarch if that isn't clear from the photos. Neither were an issue for me, just be aware.
Host is very helpful and knowledgeable of things to do in the area. I think the value is quite good. Location is prime if you like outdoorsy activies.

GermanyWe had a great stay at „The Red Cottage“ and as the name says - it is a garden paradise! The informations and hospitality were excellent and we really enjoyed the nature and cooking outside. One note: As you are that close to nature, you will see some insects inside your home - but on the other hand you have chicken and Hawaiian Geckos greeting you in the morning.

JapanYou're surrounded by chickens and while funny to watch, the rooster does crow early and at unpredictable times. There's no real way to drown him out when he's next to the house.
This is a very unique property and is an experience. I felt like I just emerged from a week in the jungle surrounded by peeping frogs, birds, geckos and more. I really did feel in touch with life in Puna. Everything about this property is infused with the owner's unique sensibilities. The bathtub has cooling rainwater that can drip down on you from above. The kitchen and dining area is covered and outside which was a first for me. The geckos noticed I was cutting fruit and came to lick juices and usefully scared away the fruit flies. I enjoyed sitting at the counter and watching birds and the weather change. I wanted to really cook dinners and the owner brought over a larger skillet to use with the gas burners which worked great. There isn't a great division between inside and outside here and that's part of the point. You acclimate to the climate and the local environment. This isn't a pristine hotel or trying to be anything like one. The owner is very personable with great ideas for exploring the island and is generous with gear to make that a little easier (warm jackets if you plan to head to a chilly summit, etc.) Take your time to explore the greater area as there is Volcano National Park and various great beaches within 40 min. or so but in different directions. Each day can be a new adventure and after 9 days I felt there was still much to explore and hope to return.

Everything was perfect, what we liked the most is the host. He was so kind to show us his backyard filled with amazing fruits and freshly cut us from each one so we can try them. He even later cooked us one of the fruits and left it for us in the house. He was really helpful, generous and kind, definitely made our whole stay unforgettable! I would advise everyone to go there.
