Positive: Skyrail and historic train, nature, pool in Cairns, boardwalk, Botanical Gardens (absolute highlight!!!). Don't miss Emerald Creek Ice Creamery - lots of varieties and very yummy! Dundee's restaurant offered outstanding food and an incredible venue with a massive fish tank to look at while dining, it's pricey, but worth it. The Daintree is as exciting as ever. Solar Whisper Croc Cruise was really good. Daytrip to Atherton Tablelands was lovely. Rusty's market is a must! Only downside of Cairns: dining is fairly expensive in general.

We went at the start of the dry season.
We went at the start of the dry season. The weather was very warm but still humid.
Cairns central has great public facilities.
The swimming lagoon is fantastic for all ages and has surf lifesavers in attendance. BBQ cookers all along the Esplanade, excellent playgrounds.
Muddy Waters in particular, the kids went crazy.
Of course you go for the reef trips and the train trip and the Skyrail up to Kuranda village. A lovely day out in beautiful rainforest.
Port Douglas and Mossman are a drive north if you have the time, they are another must see in this scenic part of north Queensland.
A drive up onto the Tablelands opens up a different part of the area. Natural and historical attractions. It's worth the drive.

A worn and sadly lacking site.
A worn and sadly lacking site. It has all the hallmarks of investors who rake in the money but don't spend any money or maintenance and improvements. They could raise their star rating if they cared to invest in renovation., The lady at the front desk was very friendly;y. What a shame she has to represent such a sad venue.

The environment in general is the thing I liked the most.

There is little opportunity to interact with people outside of those in our circle of the delegation, including the hosts and those slotted in the program, during that trip. I would like to see more people to people interaction.

Excellent location.
Excellent location. You may not need a rented car if you stay in the central location. We stayed here for 5 days. Went to Great Barrier Reef, Green Island, Used the sky rail to go to Kurandra and came back by Scenic Rail. Snorkling at both Green Island and Great Barrier Reef was too good.
The studio style room was a large modern hotel room/apartrmmet that was comfortable, clean and had a lovely view of the esplanade and water. The staff were attentive and ordered my taxi to the airport for me( day prior uber and taxi delays) so they assisted me. I had to check out at 10.00am and they safely stored my luggage for me and allowed me the luxury of a shower prior to my flight at 8pm that night. Location is approximatley 1.5 blocks away from the main restaurants along the esplanade - but it proves for a quiet stay.
Great location: CBD of Cairns, close to everything including the ferry terminal (perfect for early trips to the Great Barrier Reef, Fitzroy Island or the airport). The hostel is extremely secured with two locked doors to get inside. We felt super safe, and it feels more like a hotel than a hostel to be honest. Room was rather small, beds were very comfy, shared bathroom super clean. Also, enormous shared kitchen with plenty of utensils, appliances, plates etc. Beautiful terrace near the kitchen. We will definitely come back.
The location was a 10 minute walk from the Esplanade, 15 minutes from Cairns Central Shopping Centre. A retro 50's property, basic , clean, with a pool. The kitchen in my apartment had a big fridge, microwave, a full gas oven, pots and pans, all crockery and cutlery etc. air con, comfortable beds and pillows, it was super clean and was serviced weekly. I stayed 3 weeks. Cheap and cheerful with the most welcoming managers, Connie and Carmelo who went out of their way to make my stay a memorable one.
The Abbott Boutique Hotel was so nice we stayed there twice -- for a couple nights before a dive trip and again after we returned to Cairns. Peter and his team are fantastic and friendly, and the hotel is perfectly located to explore Cairns without even needing a car. On arrival we received a room upgrade and it was so spacious, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend this place, it is really a gem in the heart of Cairns.
Mad monkey hostel in Cairns has more than 2 property just need to be careful and double check the address before book an Uber from the airport. Stay there for 4 nights in private room which is very good clean and very quiet plus in the room have a TV with free Netflix that such a bonus! Use room key from application is very convenient but would be a bit complicated for elder people but overall I like everything the hostel has offered!!
The pillows were extremely comfortable and the bed was comfy also. The Bathtub was Amazing and I Wish I had used it more often. If the Hotel was Closer to the Shops I would have stayed throughout my visit to Cairns but with a back injury walking back and forth was Impossible. The cleaner for my room (Melissa) was very helpful and polite and was a delight to talk with. .....
- Location is great, $20-25 taxi one-way from Airport to the Hotel. Very close walk to Cairns esplanade and everything on offer.
- The view from the Ocean View King Room is great, and you really appreciate the beauty throughout the various times of day.
- Bathroom was modern.
- Majority of staff were very friendly and helpful.
The hotel was lovely with beautiful landscaping and gorgeous pools (not heated). The rooms were large and comfortable. The beds were comfortable. Cairns is very spread out and while the hotel wasn't right downtown, it was only about a 15 minute drive to the restaurants/pier.
Good Value.
Perfect for an overnight-er in Cairns to attend a function.
A simple Hotel room that was very clean, Secure, with a fantastic shower (A decent shower with good water pressure is a box I like to be ticked)...
Great location.... a short walk to the Esplanade.
Location was convenient to the Esplanade and the airport. Room was spacious, comfortable and airconditioned with a sink, fridge and table and chairs. Onsite cafe was reasonably priced and convenient, unlike many restaurants in Cairns that are just expensive tourist traps.
Location is excellent for this well priced hotel. Directly opposite the Cairns Lagoon and close to the Night Markets. No parking but ticket parking for 3 hours at a time nearby. Very comfy beds and very clean. Restaurant/Bar on top floor very good too.
Great hotel with comfortable beds and modern look of the rooms.
It’s just a bit far from esplanade, but apart from that it’s perfect.
Also, there are lot of car rental companies around this hotel. So you can just rent and explore Cairns
The hotel's location is central to everything. Great to walk around and explore the near by sites and Esplanade. Will return to Cairns and stay here again! The reception staff upon checking in and on the second day were terrific!
Location right in the action of Cairns Esplanade with a breathtaking view of the ocean. Apartment great size for a family if 4.
Overall clean and well maintained for an older apartment with update Kitchen and bathrooms.
The location of this property is its draw card. It is close enough to the city centre and the main attractions of Cairns and is cost-effective when compared to other properties in the same vicinity.
Location can't be any better if you want to stay around Esplanade in Cairns. The room was very clean and very modern. The hotel looks very new and modern. Best value for money.
Simple breakfast included in the hotel rate. Pretty central location, 15min walk to Esplanade, Night Market, Rusty's Weekend Market and the Cairns Central Shopping Mall.
