Set in 23 acres of manicured parkland, The Lakes Rookley features an indoor and outdoor heated swimming pool, children’s play areas and a wide range of on-site entertainment. Free Wi-Fi is also available.

We loved the spacious feel and cleanliness of the caravan plus the fact that there was an ensuite WC in the double room was an added bonus All equipment was available for use in the kitchen and we appreciated the welcome box with washing up liquid, sponge, cloth and tea towel. The beds were fresh and made, although the use of the summer duvet was probably a little premature given the cold weather. Once we had been shown how to use the heating, the van was plenty warm enough. When the sun shone we did manage to briefly enjoy the balcony which was well equipped with a table and chairs. I can imagine this as a very welcome space to sit on warm summer evenings.

The location was perfect, just a twenty minute walk to the centre of Newport or a short bus ride. The staff were lovely and very helpful. The food was superb. You could tell this by the amount of reservations they had for the evening meals. The room and en- suite were comfortable and a reasonable price.

Breakfast and staff at breakfast was the only good thing about this hotel. The breakfast was delicious, the chef and the single member of staff at breakfast were the only positives. They were kind and helpful

This hotel is very well located right in the centre of Newport close to pubs and restaurants. It is very convenient and when I stayed super cheap. Lets be clear, this is an old hotel, but it is clean. If you expect 5 start luxury you will be disappointed but if you are realistic as you get what you pay for then you will be content.

The cooked breakfast was superb especially the poached eggs, they were cooked to perfection! The location is very central to Newport so easy walking distance. Our room was in the attic and although my husband is 6ft plus and had to bend down a fair few times, the room was lovely, clean and spacious.
