Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe fire doors? Were very loud in the middle of the night and our room had a leaking bathroom sink which wasn’t mended during our visit.
The location was good for me as my son lived a 5 minute walk away and breakfast was good.

ItalyThe small room wasn’t particularly clean (pillows with stains, sink with a leak, dirty faucet..), no remote control for the tv, the staff cold and annoyed.
The room was warm and the bathroom had a good shower, hot enough and with a good water jet.

GermanyOne night was booked for us, and the second we booked ourselves - the staff was mostly not there at all at reception, and when they were there they were quite rude (they were alternating between the pub and reception). But the part we were disappointed with the most was the breakfast - breakfast is served at the pub (beer adverts and football memorabilia everywhere), food is presented on the bar counter, and it is stale and none of it is fresh, there were pancakes - but they were cold, no veggies of any kind, terrible coffee... the second day we skipped breakfast and went to Mad & Kaffe for brunch instead, expensive, but much better.
The room itself was comfy (we had the Junior suite) - it had a sofa and two beds put together, which wasn't ideal, but OK.

DenmarkSome electrical outlets did not seem too safe and should probably be checked.
This is a two star hotel, so expectations were limited to that. Staff were friendly, rooms were clean, there was hot water in the shower. All expectations for the basics were met.

United KingdomThe room/hotel was a lot less modern that the photos depicted. The bathroom needs some work (eg the shower head was broken and wouldn’t clip up). The doors around the hotel would benefit with some soft coursers as there was a lot of loud banging

CroatiaThere is no real luggage storage. The lugagge is stored in reception area (really just a tiny space) and when we came back, nobody was there so we just took our suitcases and left, without being seen by anybody (but maybe recorded on some camera).
The hotel is near two bus stops, the stuff was really friendly and we got the free drinks in adjecent Amager pub (great coffee, btw)

United KingdomHotel room was extremely extremely basic. There were 2 coat hangers to hang clothes and 2 small drawers so we couldn’t unpack our suitcases. There was no kettle or drink making facilities. The shower was quite old fashioned which isn’t a problem - but it was mounted to the wall incorrectly meaning you had to hold the shower head as you couldn’t adjust the angle of it on the wall so it was just blasting the opposite wall. The location didn’t feel touristy which was nice but I think it would be better to be more central.
Hotel room was clean. Wasn’t far from the nearest metro station.

United StatesNumber one the elevator was out of service, and I had specifically noted that I had an injured leg and needed to be near the elevator or on the first floor. They had no rooms on the first floor and I had to use the stairs. Also, the elevator has a weight limit so two people with heavy luggage could not use the elevator, nor would they fit in the elevator. They did not provide enough paper products, or soap or towels, and they knew we had three people and neither linens, pillows nor blankets were provided for 3rd bed. It took hours before we received them. The rooms are above a bar and the bartender handed out keys but did not “work there.” The breakfast was pretty nasty, a bowl of yogurt put out but not iced, so it was runny soup, silverware was dirty, “hot” items had no heat on them so they were cold…it was gross. There was unfinished flooring with nails sticking out at entry and only some electrical outlets worked…dangling electrical wires in hallway. The stairway was not lit at night. They said bags could be stored and they left them at small check in area with door propped open and no one at the desk b/c he was working in the bar. Parking was hard to find and cost about $40 a night to park on the street.
The room was clean and beds comfortable. The temperature was good but no a/c and only one small space heater. Wall heaters did not work
