“Caledonian House is ideally placed in the quiet village of Portmahomack. Its rooms are lovely and the front room has a spectacular view across the Cromarty Firth.”
“The Castle Hotel is a very dog friendly pub with rooms and the facilities are a little limited. Our room while comfortable and very clean was quite small but had the benefit of an en-suite walk in shower. The atmosphere is very casual and informal and the staff were lovely. The hotel revolves around the bar which is very popular with locals and visitors and can be quite lively. The menu, at least while we were there, was a little restricted and tended to lean towards the vegetarian and does not seem to change very often. There is a specials board. The food was very well cooked and presented. Again the breakfast menu is a not the typical all in Scottish but is generous and plentiful. Portmohomach is a quiet seaside village with a lovely sandy beach and we enjoyed beautiful weather. There is plenty to do in the area, lots of walks, dolphin viewing etc etc. An excellent little place for a weekend.”
