How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

could have done with a bit more in the kitchen for example washing up liquid and a dish cloth.

Absolutely mind-blowing! A great place to stay if you're travelling with family. We had four people and the place perfectly suited our purpose. Comfortable bedrooms and spacious living room next to a modern kitchen! Quite central location with walkable distance to the railway station.

Windows drafty unless you shut the curtains and you can hear noise from people using the walkway near the pub at night. Didn't bother us too much but may annoy others.
Very clean, warm and roomy, staff very friendly. TV has Freeview only but we took a HDMI cable to connect our laptop to it so we could watch Netflix etc. Plenty of sockets about but maybe take an extension lead with you. Washing machine not a dryer too but dried clothes on radiators. Beds very comfy.

Street outside was a little noisy at night. Next time, I would ask for an apartment that overlooked the rear of the building.
Huge amount of space for our family. Great to have a kitchen and dining table. Great location close to train station. Comfortable beds. Nice and warm. We could control the heating settings.

Soundproofing could be improved - too easy to hear drunken party goers outside with all windows shut at 3 am!!
The apartment was as described, and pictured also cosy and clean. There was no one at reception because it was Christmas day but the check in instructions were accurate and easy to follow. Annette was very helpful with check in and departure. Location is fantastic, only 10 mins walk to the centre. We would happily come back.

only one thing - not enough light in the kitchen area. just 2 ceiling downlights. we had to move a small desktop lamp.
beautifully clean, well equipped and centrally located. having 2 bedrooms was diesel for our little group.

Front apartment and as a light sleeper the noise throughout the night from young people partying and talking /shouting kept me awake . Would certainly not let that put me off for future booking . Parking in the underground car park was quite tight to get in and out
Great apartment, roomy, clean and close to shopping centre and also near train station. Two ladies at reception were very helpful and helped out with a few questions we had about the area.

Occasional noise in the late evening from passers-by, it is in a student area but there are no clubs nearby so any disturbance was shortlived.
Excellent situation, easy to reach by car on arrival. Underground parking convenient. Large apartment in good condition. Comfortable beds and sofas. Wide range of kitchen equipment. 5 minutes level walk into main shopping area.

it was modern, clean and had all the amenities you would expect; wifi, hairdryer, TV. the rooms were big and the windows were very soundproof allowing us to get a good nights sleep whilst being right in the city centre! 5 minute walk from both town and the utilita arena.

The noise at night can be disturbing from the street below. But it is a busy city, perhaps if the windows were upgraded it might help.
The accommodation was the cleanest I have ever stayed in. Spotless and prepared well. It has plenty of room and a good central location in Newcastle.

Not as clean as it could be the dining chairs were not very clean. Soft furnishings needed freshing up
Staff were first class and room was great 3 minutes walk to our wedding venue
