How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The breakfast room was a little soulless and some background music would have helped (note the owner took this feedback on board and committed to ensuring this was addressed). Small amount of road noise, but only heard as we slept with windows open due to warm weather.
Lovely room with modern en-suite. Bed was a little soft for my own taste, but was comfortable enough. Breakfast was great, all food fresh and hot. Staff were really attentive and welcoming.

Husband quite tall and room was on top floor with eaves restriction. Banged his head a couple of times. Shower extremely hot. Difficult to adjust hot and cold valves. Called for assistance it was a safety issue. Staff attended quickly and resolve the matter. Informed that plumber will be called to check the shower.

Not a massive issue but I would prefer a Super King Size bed for a good night’s sleep.
Almost everything. Hayley was a fantastic host providing really helpful pointers for eating and drinking. The room was spacious, clean, comfortable and stylish. Access to fresh milk for a cup of tea with a nice touch. It was a good location only a few minutes walk from the centre of Ambleside and the northern tip of Windermere.

Unfortunately my TV kept going off , of its own accord, batteries were changed in the T V remote, but had the the same problem the next evening. Coffee machine was a bit temperamental too.
The breakfast was great, as I have a gluten free diet, as was catered for with gluten free sausage and bread. My son also loved it very much. It was amazing, friendly staff and no long waiting.

There is some traffic noise at the front if the windows are open, but this is Ambleside - and it's what you expect!
Very friendly and helpful staff, excellent breakfast, very clean and tastefully decorated.

Some may find the steps to the front entrance a problem if disabled in any way. However, there is another entrance at the rear which is virtually level. However I would not say I didn’t like this about the property, And the staff were more than happy to assist in any way they could.
Exceptionally clean, great location, short walk to amenities, ample cost free parking, comfortable well equipped rooms and very spacious, tea and coffee making facilities, mini fridge and daily bottled water supplied. Views from the junior suites are excellent. Breakfast was exceptional and cooked to your individual likes, ample quantities, and all brought to you by really helpful, pleasant smiling staff, who obviously enjoy their work. We would have absolutely no qualms in recommending this gem to anybody.

The staff were brilliant. We were running late on check-in day, but spoke to Hayley on the phone and she was really accommodating. We were also given some great advice for getting around, dinner recommendations, etc which was really helpful. Pre-ordering a slot and choices for breakfast was a nice touch - everything freshly cooked. The location was brilliant, being only 10 minutes walk into Ambleside, where there are lots of options to eat or drink. Great access to all the usual things to do in the Lake District and some good/challenging walks nearby without even having to drive the car.
