from the outside the hotel appearance is terrible, very scruffy, and was a little off putting on arrival, corridors are scruffy and not very clean.

staff great, decent breakfast, gym and pool both good. reasonable food in restaurant, although a touch over priced.

The hotel, obviously being old, seems a little out of date, the paint is falling off the hot tub, But the front desk, bar and breakfast staff, made up for it, they really went above and beyond and was so friendly

Improved service with evening meals. We received a sweet with ice cream before our main meal I had to wait why my food bill was sorted due to it having another tables items on my bill

I was travelling on a motorbike & the bike racks where I parked were not covered by CCTV. This would have provided some peace of mind.

Sofa bed wasn't made when we arrived and was uncomfortable to sleep in. Not enough toilet roll - we ran out!

Good size, clean bathroom, able to open windows together some fresh air. Staff were friendly, professional and helpful. Children given a vip band which allowed them a free daily fruit shoot and treat which they loved! We could use the pool. Very conventional location - both travelling to by car and shops within walking distance.

Unfortunately I left a company shirt and hooded top in the wardrobe. I called the hotel next day to arrange for a colleague to collect cloths, I was told housekeeping would call back after 12 noon. I called on 4 occasions and never received a call back. 2 weeks later I spoke to Holly who did call me back but my garments have never been found. Not good for frequent visitors to our HO.

Our head office opened in Chester so this was a test visit to check suitability for 2,500 members of staff who will need to come to Chester from all over the UK at some point.

Clear tension between staff members not hidden in front of us (some really awkward exchanges made me cringe). Had to call reception after getting into our room as there was no bedding for our children and not enough towels to shower (it was booked as a family room for 4 people). Hotel exterior not nice (including back seating area). Evening meal OK.

The room including bathroom was spotlessly clean. Great breakfast with plenty of choice in a nice restaurant setting. Staff were very pleasant to us as customers. The interior of the hotel was nice. Kids eat free - bonus!

I know - its not hotels fault but guests. But unfortunately somebody was smoking just next to my room and smoke was coming thru ventilation till late night. As for non smoker it was terrible. Had no idea what to do but open window and swithch off air con.

Very good size room. Clean. Check-in was smooth, thanks to friendly and efficient staff. I was given lots of information about stay and city whereabouts. Spa facilities was also clean and good size pool made my day. Definetly worth the money.

The radiator wasn't working the manager did everything to rectify it he gave us a mobile heater.

A warm welcome staff were very helpful. We needed an accessible room we were given a choice of two.

The TV in the room was restricted to free view channels and the picture quality wasn't great, washed out colours.

The staff were very friendly and informative. The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable and towels were changed daily. The self service breakfast was delicious with continental breakfast and hot English breakfast on offer. Our room was on the ground floor and decor was plain yet modern and tasteful. The walk in shower was powerful and I liked the toiletries provided both in the shower cubicle and next to the wash basin. Free complimentary WiFi was handy. Location wise, a 15 minute bus ride into the centre of Chester with a bus stop just a five minute walk from the hotel, running regularly. We would stay here again if we ever returned to Chester for a break
