How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Not enough parking on site, although there is parking 5 minutes walk away, small inconvenience!
Fantastic location, very clean hotel and staff were very friendly! Had an ironing board, iron, kettle with tea n coffee sugar etc...

The parking went up to £25 per 24 hours, when we was told £18 . So that was £50 for our 2 day stay . Which was an absolute rip off. And we had to pay £15 for our cavapooshon to stay in our room for 1 night . Tho we didn’t get anything for this . We was also put on the ground floor with our bedroom window facing the busy main road . Drunk people knocking on our windows at night was very uncomfortable.

Parking was a little limited, although we were lucky enough to get a space some of our party had to park elsewhere and paid a lot for it.
We got a friendly welcome with free hot cookies on arrival.

The toilet flush didn’t work: this was fed back to the reception team.

Parking was not great and alittle expensive. Was told £18 but had to pay £25. Wanted to go in to York but had to move the car. So u don't even get 24 hrs. 😒 which did spoil things alittle. As had to go to park n ride to come back in to town.
Hotel was lovely very clean and staff was lovely..

First room was inadequate needed to upgrade. Breakfast not a good experience. There wasn’t enough hot food to go round despite being replenished. For example, there wasn’t a vegetarian sausage and I had to wait for hash browns then I waited for beans and then I had to wait again for mushrooms. Spoilt my breakfast experience.
Hotels public spaces. Was able to park. Staff responsiveness.

Bath was very slippy, ended up falling and hurting myself. Sign to say bath mat could be requested but don’t see that until you are already in the shower and no warning of it being slippy. Noise from room to room/corridor was very noisy. Room nearby had some drilling of some sort going on.
Location was great. Free upgrade was much appreciated when rooms were not in use. Staff were great. Bed and room was comfortable.

Friendly staff on check in. The first room we were offered was not suitable but we were able to change rooms and this made a huge difference to our stay. The hotel is in a great location.

No parking. Quite noisy at night. Seemed empty and wasn’t really any atmosphere. Staff didn’t come across very knowledgeable. Signed us in but didn’t explain anything included or where things were. I asked about the 3 course meal I booked as an extra but they didn’t have a clue so we just cancelled it and just went into town. It was a Friday night and the restaurant was empty so put us off really. None of the usual things associated with Hilton that makes it special. Paid extra for a deluxe room but can’t see the difference. Felt more like a premier inn. Wasn’t a bad experience but this was a treat for us and not worth the extra money basically.
Nice location. Clean, nicely decorated and looked after well. Polite staff.

I was a bit disappointed in my room. It was very small and quite dark. The towel rail was rusty and the taps were damaged. During the evening I also walked past a member of staff in whites around the back of the hotel which was to the entrance to my room who from the smell we obviously smoking a joint which I thought was not only unprofessional but quite dangerous if he was working in a kitchen.
The reception and bar was very nice. The location was good
