We had a 6 night stay. The hospitality and personal touch from both Colin and Sarah was very good. With the right level of attentiveness. Great selection for breakfast, clean and spacious room. A quiet location within an easy 5 minute walk to the town centre.

Comfy bed and a really nice breakfast. Really appreciated the extra little things. There is a fridge downstairs for people to help themselves to milk and water plus lovely cakes in the breakfast room available all day. The owners are lovely too.

Colin and Sarah go beyond expectations to make everything perfect and comfortable. Breakfast was sensational! All the sweet touches from homemade nibbles to info guides helped to create a home away from home. Super location to use as a base to hike and visit the Lake District. Highly recommend!!!

Our second visit to Portland House Colin and Sarah are a pleasure to meet So friendly making you feel welcome and comfortable We took two friends this time and they yoo loved everything The breakfast choice is outstanding and quality is 10/10 . The accommodation is literally a ten minute walk from keswick Town centre The rooms are comfortable and all the little extras make a difference. Can't wait to return

Wonderful location, the loveliest hosts and outstanding breakfast on both mornings. I was visiting alone for a funeral, and felt really safe and welcomed by Colin and Sarah. Room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, and in walking distance to everything Keswick has to offer. Room was also well equipped, with everything you need plus hair dryer, tea and biscuits, kettle, milk, etc.

I would not change a thing!

The beds were quite comfortable with lovely linens. Nice cozy decor. The breakfast room was immaculate with ironed tablecloths. The food was amazing and fresh. Highly recommend this location for a stay. Hope to visit again!

I didn't stay long enough

Colin and Sarah were great host including their dog. I loved the breakfast, the shortbread and the fruit salad. They put a lot of details in their work. The place was immaculate.

A fantastic warm and friendly welcome with comfortable accommodation and superb breakfasts were complimented by extras such as home baked goods, tea and coffee always available and a snack to take out on the hills.

This is a beautiful home conveniently located a few blocks from the shops and restaurants in Kewsick. The owners are lovely and the house is clean and comfortable. The breakfast is the best I’ve had in England- get the fresh fruit salad and try the porridge- trust me! Also, don’t miss the freshly baked shortbread available daily.

If I'm being really picky, the coffee wasn't that great and the electric shower was a bit inconsistent and needed a few daily adjustments, but nothing that actually spoiled the stay.

Great hosts, nice good-sized room, good breakfast; what's not to like! Worried about parking and paid for a space through one of the parking apps but didn't use in the end as there was a space very near the house - maybe just lucky but we did have 2 cars and didn't have an issue.
