The facilities in the swimming pool/spa were a bit dated, only one shower had shower gel in it, no robes, lockers didn’t lock. And when I realised I left something in there, staff were nowhere to be found. Disappointing part of the hotel. But the rest is fine.

Very nice property, lovely bar area

When we arrived we noticed the twin beds where different heights. Oh closer inspection one had collapsed and had been wedged up with wood feet. Informed reception who offered to move us, but we had settled and only staying for one night.

Ideal location to Chester, nice clean small spa area, restaurant and bar.

carpet was a bit dated in our room, needed a shampoo.

Lovely country hotel with large carpark. The receptionist was lovely, very friendly and helpful about the area. The room was quite big, and that and the bathroom were very clean. We were in a ground floor room as requested but we really needed some sort of blinds/net curtain at window as it was overlooking a rear carpark. Breakfast was lovely . We sat in the bar as we had a dog but it was lovely and the waiters were very good.

I do not wish to censorious. Trying to install modern facilities such as showers in old buildings always presents problems. Up to a point, Rowton Hall has coped with this. Actually I would always prefer this sort of building to the soulless modern muti-corridor, multi-level establishment. But please make allowances.

Very pleasant old Georgian building in well tended grounds including beautiful gardens. All the staff, without exception, were hard working and attentive. The restaurant provides a distinctive menu. The cod was flaky and flavoursome. Risotto perhaps a bit small. Good choice of breakfast.

Toilet flush wasn't working properly so we were upgraded. Still problems with the flush but not as bad. Carpet stained - needed a good shampoo. Waiting on staff were lovely but they were not pro-active. They require proper training. No-one at the bar when we required service and they disappeared when drinks were served. At breakfast no cereal bowls (we had to ask). Plates were not cleared away although when we finished eating we were asked if we'd like more tea/coffee! Payment was taken off twice and we are still waiting for it to show in our account. Two lady receptionists were excellent. Guy on the desk when we checked out was a bit abrupt. Thought it didn't seem to matter that we'd been charged twice!!

Upgraded to a lovely room. The staff were very polite.

The food could have been better but it was easy to get to Chester by taxi and so we enjoyed a brilliant Italian meal out.

Yorkshire pudding very over cooked. Desserts too sweet and chocolate brownie unnecessarily doused in caramel sauce. But these aspects didn’t spoil what was overall a lovely comfortable stay.

The garden is amazing - full of the most beautiful flowers. Staff very helpful and friendly. At dinner the starters and most of the main course, particularly the meat, were excellent. At breakfast the porridge and coffee were particularly good and there was a good choice of food.Bedroom was spacious, nicely decorated and bed very comfortable.

Nice setting, don't take room 101

The room 101 had a view of a blank wall despite the hotel being in a park. Worse than that the restaurant extractor fan was audible so you couldn't leave the window open. OK on a cold night but not good in summer. We felt a bit like we'd been given the worst room because we ignored their offer to bid for an upgrade. Which was odd because they said the hotel was full. There was a works conference going on as well taking up 80% of the hotel and while it wasn't obtrusive it made the hotel feel a bit empty of life. Also though the breakfast was fine if you wanted the full English you had to pay extra.

Lovely setting, colourful gardens, we actually got married here 10 years ago so it was a little revisit. Room was a good size and comfortable. The pool area is excellent and we had it to ourselves.
