Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesIt would have been great to have an onsen, but that's ok.
The staff is amazing; they put you in an elevator and then run up the stairs to meet you at the top. They try very hard to show hospitality. The food was absolutely phenomenal. We ate two dinners and two breakfasts in private rooms, and all were delightful and beautiful.

United StatesConsidering the cost of staying here, the one, small thing that bothered me during our stay was having to pay for a cup of coffee at breakfast
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kinjoro. The staff was friendly, the room with a garden view was very nice. We booked the room with breakfast and dinner included and found the food, as well as presentation and private dining room, excellent. Even though we heard other people in this ryokan, we did not encounter another guest during our stay. This ryokan is about a 7 minute taxi ride from Aomori station and within walking distance of Old Town.

IndiaGreat stay in the ryokan - wearing our yukatas and eating the beautifully presented kaiseki meals. Our 2 bedroom suite was surprisingly large and spacious , opening out onto a private garden. A small kitchenette was also provided with a well stocked mini bar - all free. Bathroom was beautifully appointed with top notch toiletries provided for all of us in individual cloth bags! The meals ( breakfast and dinner ) were beautifully presented and served. Breakfast had a choice of western or japanese - we tried both - very good. Service was excellent - attentive, courteous and everything provided for. An unexpected surprise were the gold leaf boxes presented to us on our last day!

FranceAs mentioned before, the Japanese breakfast is a bit challenging at times but I wouldn't avoid it altogether. If we'd stayed for an extra night we probably would have opted for the European style the second morning.
We loved our one-night stay at Kinjohro. The room was beautiful, the staff incredibly polite, and the garden that our room looked over was gorgeous. We ate an excellent dinner and opted for the Japanese breakfast the following morning. This was sometimes challenging for our European palates but there was plenty to choose from and it was an interesting experience so I do recommend it. We were there on a rainy day, and in some ways that was

SingaporePlease see above.
The food was good, Ryokan was well kept and very clean and exclusive. My only disappointment was that it didn't have any hot spring bath, which was my fault as I didn't check probably before booking as I assumed all Ryokans in Japan has hot spring bath. Now I know it is not true that all Ryokans come with hot spring bath. Nonetheless, my stay at Kinjohro was pleasant and nice. Orh! just one comment, the wifi was rather weak and slow. This is only one issue I faced as I had to work on my laptop and it was a little frustrating when the internet was slow. Other than this, everything is perfect.

United StatesExceptional quality from start to finish. Walking in felt like I was transported back in time. Room was large and inviting, meals were wonderfully crafted and delicious. I didn't speak much Japanese, and my host didn't speak much English, but even with our limited conversation I could tell the service was sincere. A wonderful stay.

United StatesIt was my first ryokan -- an unusual wonderful experience, but I'm a little too old to crawl around the floor. We came in January (CNY) and it snowed all 3 days which added to the experience; however, it was very cold and the no-shoes policy (which I enforce in my home) and the lack of central heating, kept us from exploring the hotel and the nearby sites. Maybe we should have added a spa experience
The meals and service was excellent. The staff was friendly. The multipurpose room was large and constantly being changed for our use. The quality of the dinner was exceptional and both the Asian and Western breakfasts were nice. Only later did we learn there were only 6 rooms and it seemed to thrive on meetings and lunch businesses to support the ryokan hotel.

The service was impeccable and the food outstanding. We had someone who was dedicated to look after just us and she never failed to look after me and my son. We ate each meal in a different room and saw so many of the hotel's beautiful rooms and garden. The hotel is very well placed for some of Kanazawa's best locations.

United StatesThis ryokan was stunning and the service, staff and attention to detail was superb. I am vegetarian and the chef provided three full kaiseki meals and one breakfast without meat. The food was exquisite! They also recognized after the first dinner that I was too full to finish, so my portions were reduced to accommodate my appetite. (I agree with another reviewer that the tempura was the best I've ever had.) Location was excellent- within walking distance of most points of interest. I would highly recommend Kinjohro to anyone visiting Kanazawa.

United KingdomThey didn’t provide traditional sleepers like other ryokans which makes walking around the hotel very uncomfortable given that the hotel is not heated so your feet are freezing. The pillows were like rocks. The elevator doesn’t support two normal size adults. The ryokan has no facilities. Didn’t feel like a luxurious experience given the price we have paid
