    “Everything was perfect. The room is super clean and in the traditional Japanese style which I loved. Very cozy and comfortable. I was lucky enough to see Mt. Fuji on a clear day and the view from the room was priceless. The staff was very nice, friendly and professional. I also liked that the area wasn’t touristy at all, I could enjoy the view at the lake without a crowd. Highly recommend this hotel!”

    “The location is great. Along one of the main streets and a bus line and easy walking distance from the traditional quarter, a few attractions, and even the main station. The traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast were good, but we felt that we had better elsewhere for a similar price. The room was nice, but lacked a bit of character. The toilet was separate. The public bath was a medium-sized with 4 wash stations but completely empty when we used it. The water in the evening was kind of lukewarm, but in the morning was good temperature, though you should not expect a "hot" bath. If you want a traditional onsen/ryokan experience and do not have much time in Takayama, this is a good spot, but a bit pricey. Consider extending your search to the outer areas or into one of the mountain villages if you have more time.”

    “Back here for the second time, was here in Oct 2023 previously. Love the private onsen, and the morning view of Mt Fuji at the window. Beds were comfortable. An extremely quiet and relaxing place to get away from the bustling city.”

    “Beyond the gimmick of the dinosaur robots greeting you, the hotel is very good. The robots only react to your self check-in/out, but staff is available for other needs like luggage storage or ordering a taxi. Remember to pick up amenities in the lobby before going to your room. The room was small, but great. There is space to lay out a small suitcase. Toilet was separate, the sink was in the room. There was a wet room unit with bathtub and shower. The location is great, central and along a bus line. Close to the park and the castle ruins. In walking distance to the fish market or all three traditional quarters.”

    “Extremely pleased with the stay. Was in the same vicinity in Oct 2023 and stayed at a nearby business hotel. Comparing it with this experience, Hotel Quest Shimizu was definitely way better: Complimentary night drinks were awesome. Room size was spacious. Beds were comfortable. Rooms were well lit. Staff could communicate with perfect English. Parking slots were available. Amenities were great.”
