How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

A full length mirror would have been great and some utensils. Also the floor was quite squeaky - mot sure of the room downstairs were able to hear it.

A lower charge for overnight car parking.
The location close to the beach was ideal. Staff were always available and helpful. The room was a good size and comfortable with facilities.

Unfortunately, the only thing that bothered me was the high amount they charge per night for parking. It is a secure parking lot but I found the price to be very high compared to other hotels. No breakfast.
Great location, easy access to the beach and pier. Comfortable room, heater and air conditioning. I loved that there is a coffee machine in the room.

Paper-thin walls - everything can be heard from the adjacent rooms as well as outside - in a word, quite noisy.
Guarded paid parking lot. Beautiful bathroom. The hotel is right next to the beach promenade.

Everything was just what we expected. Wasn't the Hilton, but very nice. The staff was wonderful?
Our stay was wonderful. We just stayed one night and the hotel was perfect. Good location and value for the money.

Rooms were very expensive for a (ex-motel) hotel without a restaurant or breakfast area.
Location was fantastic. Staff very friendly. Room and bathroom were spacious and clean. Rooms was beautiful and bed comfy. Amenities were relatively modern.

Very well located, near the Santa Monica Peer as well as close by Venice beach. The hotel had bikes that we could take for a ride by the sea side. It was great.

We could see the beach from our room but because of the style of the hotel, we couldn't open our curtain because everyone walking by would see in. Room is tiny, even for just two people. Barely any room for your luggage. The bed and pillows were terribly hard. I suppose I could have asked to switch rooms but I assumed they were all the same. Regardless, feedback for the hotel-get new mattresses and pillows! Lastly, at 2/3am one night, the staff were moving about between the buildings and pushing around a cart (I think) which was extremely loud as the noise just bounced off the sides of the buildings. It went on for some time so needless to say, we didn't sleep well.
Location was great, beach within a 2 minute walk and could see it from our window. The room was clean but would recommend a broom be in the room due to the proximity to the beach and the likelihood to track in some sand. They had a super handy beach bag and towels in the room.

No proper breakfast and dining options
Location is great, direct way out to Santa Monica Beach. There are bicycles in the hotel you can rent for an affordable price compared to the ones on the beach

It is more of a motel than a hotel and nothing wrong with that. I had a bottom floor room and I was woken up on a couple of occasions by cleaning staff rummaging around way too early. Also, if you have mobility issues and don’t have a car the walk to the pier and third street promenade might be five minutes too long for you. Other than that enjoyed my stay here.
It was close to Main Street and 3rd Street promenade. Rooms were comfortable and well maintained. Some nice cafes and restaurants close by, including a wonderful Mexican restaurant. Staff friendly. Surprisingly quiet most of the time.

The floor of the room was dirty so had to be sure to wear socks while in the room.
Comfy bed, quiet at night (second floor parking lot side), super close to beach, safe with 24 hour office and keycards to get into area of rooms. I didn't use, but there are beach towels, umbrellas, bikes and the like available to use.

Windows facing the courtyard, however this wasn't a fully negative thing because it ensured silence during the night,
Perfect location on Santa Monica beach. Pier is maybe 1km away. Room was better than expected. Considering the general bad level of US hotels, this was a pleasant surprise. Room cleaned an new towels provided every day. Overall really nice place
