  • Atlantida Mar Hotel Review score: 10

“I loved everything about this place! The staff were ALL very friendly (and a special shout out to the lovely Mafalda who gave suggestions on what to see, answered our questions about the Portuguese language and culture, and delivered friendly smiles like warm sunshine every day without fail!) The rooms are well appointed & clean (extremely important to us!), the breakfast had a good selection each day (yes, the same foods each day, but you could select something new each day for a week without eating the same thing twice), the location is perfect (so close to beaches and a short 5-10 minute walk into town), the view is wonderful, and I miss sitting on the balcony each morning with my cappuccino enjoying the sea view and breeze with the sounds of doves cooing. The bed was comfy and the shower was great. I will definitely be back!”

“Staff was very helpful and friendly. Bed was comfortable. There were plenty of electric outlets for charging equipment.”

  • “We slept in a 4-beds room, the room was quiet. Breakfast is very good for the price”

  • Casa da Lagoa Review score: 10

“Amazing colonial house on the side of Furnas lake ! One of best stay in the area if you like peace and autonomy. You are welcome with a basket full of local goods. The house is in its original condition, do not expect a modern accommodation. At the first floor, rooms and bathroom are renovated. The main interest are the location and the services (free access to the neighboring park, kayak, bikes...). Host are very friendly.”

“Excellent location. Clean and comfortable. Helpful staff. Parking on site. Breakfast included. Happy with our decision to stay there.”

“First of all, the hospitality and kindness of the people working there are exceptional! The owners are locals, and they greet you every morning at breakfast, ready to share the best places to visit. Even when the weather isn't great, they always have helpful advice to make your day enjoyable. Their warmth and friendliness made us feel right at home. Second, the rooms. They are spacious and impeccably clean! Each room includes a TV, air conditioning, a bathtub, and a closet with plenty of space for your clothes. The front windows offer a lovely view of the surrounding area. The bed was comfortable, and the room had a cozy ambiance that made it a perfect retreat after a day of exploring. The breakfast in the morning is good, though the selection is somewhat limited. However, the quality is excellent, with fresh pastries, fruit, and good coffee. You don't need a heavy breakfast since Portuguese food is amazing, so it's best to save your appetite for lunch and dinner! Third, the location. The hotel is just a 3-minute walk to the center of Ponta Delgada, so you don’t need a car to reach excellent restaurants and shops. The area is vibrant, with many local shops, cafes, and even a small supermarket on the corner for any essentials you might need. The owners are very attentive and will ask you about your departure time. If you're leaving before breakfast (let’s say around 6 in the morning), they will prepare a breakfast that you can take with you to the airport. This thoughtful gesture really made a difference for us. While it’s not a 5-star hotel, the service, hospitality, and kindness are truly outstanding and go far beyond what you'd expect. We felt genuinely cared for during our stay, which made our experience all the more special. Additionally, the hotel offers free Wi-Fi, which was reliable and fast. Overall, we had a fantastic time and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Ponta Delgada.”

  • Ilha Hostel & Suites Review score: 10

“We arrived late evening and left early morning, so we did not even meet the staff, but they communicated through messages clearly, we could check in in message as well. I really appreciated that breakfast box was ready for take away before our early flight. Other accomodations just told me they serve only fruit for take away. The room was really nice and clean. Comfortable.”
