  • Dornoch Castle Hotel Review score: 10

    “Location central. Staff extremely helpful”

  • Carlton Hotel Review score: 6

“Rooms are located above the Carlton Hotel which has a lively bar with a pool table. There's also live music several nights a week. The staff were very pleasant and efficient, and the public areas have been recently redecorated without taking away all of the old charm of this hotel. We had a spacious room on the top floor with a double bed and a single bed, a large flatscreen TV, and an ensuite shower room. There's a large (free!) car park behind the co-op a short distance away. You receive a complimentary drink at check-in. The bedrooms had been pleasantly decorated and were clean.”

  • “Great location in Inverness. Really good checkin experience.”

“Absolutely perfect! Beautiful house and garden. Great host. Will definitely be back”

  • Rooms in Inverness Review score: 3

“Location was very close to the Train Station, which is what we needed for this trip as our train was leaving at 0755. It's also close to a couple of lively bars (which is super if you love live music). Earplugs recommended. En-Suite shower room was clean and surprisingly spacious with a large shower. Check-in all done via messages and we were provided with comprehensive instructions for location, parking and the access pin codes for front door, and key safe for our room key. Access was uncomplicated. There's paid parking near by, including handy place to stop to drop off in Rose Street (to the rear of property). Overall felt safe (as long as other guests remember to ensure the front door is kept locked).”

  • “Great location. Located half-way between Thurso and Inverness this was a great place for us to break our journey after taking the evening ferry from Orkney. The hosts provided all the details via messenger including detailed instructions to find the pods, and "check-in" was uncomplicated and via a key-safe. The accommodation was immaculate, and the kitchen well stocked for self-catering. It was fun to soak in the hot-tub after our drive, and to admire the views. We were not bothered by midges at all. There's an allocated parking space close to the pod. The main bedroom is spacious and the sofa bed is the IKEA one that turns an L-shaped sofa into a double bed and all the bed linen was of a high quality. The blinds and curtains block out the early morning light effectively. There's WiFi, and an Alexa. The location was very peaceful, and we slept well.”

    “location and staff”

  • The Anderson Review score: 10

“The Anderson Hotel is one of a kind in the best way! The old historic building is filled with all sorts of curiosities and with lots of love. The decor of the rooms is in a fitting vintage style, but everything is very neat and tidy! The food is awesome, they have also a lots of crafty beer on tap and 250 whiskys to choose from. Jim and his crew are the good heart&soul of this location and make your stay worth while.”

  • Inverness Youth Hostel Review score: 9

“The Youth Hostel is a hidden gem of UK travel. The staff are amazing and were so very helpful when our train was so delayed and gave me confidence that we'd still be able to access our accommodation despite the late hour of arrival. The site is very peaceful, and our private room (with room for 6!) was spacious with a large shower room and fluffy towels. The YH beds are always comfortable, which a very snuggly duvet and pillows. The curtains kept the room dark overnight. As ever, the YH was quiet overnight, and we all slept well. We had a "Wee Breakfast" which is enough to set yourself up for the day and had GF and DF options. There's also a well equipped kitchen if you have brought your own food. The public areas are maintained to a high standard and there's a storage area if you want to leave your luggage whilst you explore the area.”
